How the hell does this work it every time.................

Nope, answer is different every time. Freaky :w00t:

It can be beaten though............use the same number twice in a row. :-D

(what it does is make sure that mathmatically it can only be one item each time providing you change your numbers from the last go) :thumbsup:

Simple - select any 2 digit number, say xy
That is x in the 10s column and y in the 1s column so we have 10x + y
Now subtract x and y, so we have
10x + y -x -y = 9x
So the answer is always a multiple of 9
Take a look at the list of gifts. Every multiple of 9 is the same gift, which is the one which is "chosen".

Not hard - just simple maths.

I tried it with the same numbers and using your logic its still wrong...........

My logic is correct - and it doesn't get much simpler than that.
1. It always comes up with a multiple of 9 - that is 9 timex x where x is the first digit.
2. Every multiple of 9 has the same answer
3. That is the answer given back to you.
Simples.
