Deleted Norton and now using AVG free, looking for some advice now.

Should i download pop up stopper?

Should i turn on windows firewall? (i use bit torrents, xbox live etc..)

I already have ad aware which i run reguarly. Anyone advise anything else i should maybe download? Nothing that will slow my pc down though!

No good ones allow you t choose what programmes it stops connections from (sunbelt warns you when a connection is taking place)

Most people use a router now a days. I've always been told a router is the best firewall you can get?

I've used this a couple of times recently to clean dirty PC's, found it to be really good actually.

Yes in general it is always safer to have a firewall on...it may slow activity slightly but shouldnt affect speed greatly if it does then you have an underlying problem with your PC. Your AVG is a virus scanner/anti spyware/web scanner affectively scans all activity and alerts of any malicious files, but it does not identify communication this is where a firewall helps it will keep track of cummunication in and out of pc....windows firewall downfall is it does not check all connections, where as sunbelt will and as far more advanced.....

That was my breif outline for you lol...very brief :-D

ditto. Avast is much better than avg.

also use comodo firewall and turn windows fw off.

and most importantly, never use IE as its so insecure. Use firefox 3 (has built in pop-up stopper)
