anyone have any experience of this? will i see it again?

wouldnt be too bothered but my poor 9 year old daughter didnt squander her spending pennies on stupid inflatables and sweets like her brothers but bought herself some lovely outfits and jewellery - all in said case, along with my DVD'S we took, all my new underwear, 2 pairs of my new trousers and all my daughters shoes!!

We took our baby (6 months then) to Lanzarote last May - Thomas Cook lost our suitcase on the way over there. All her milk and bottles were in there :(

It was the worst week of our lives!

I even rang the Insurance Company while we were out there and they wouldn't help til we got back.

I claimed as soon as got home as well as complaining for the VERY poor service from the reps over there.

Took quite a while to sort out, thankfully I'd bought everything pretty much on the day we flew so had all the receipts and got a fair amount back (I claimed for over the max to be on the safe side).

The complaint with Thomas Cook went on until last month - a whole year - and they finally sent us a cheque for £42 'as a gesture of goodwill'

The fact that it's on the way home should be a very small consolation to you (small, miniscule I mean by that), atleast you're in your own home :)

Make sure you get as many receipts together as you can while you contact the insurance company and get them to send you a claim form :)

you are covered for the loss of your case but its who you claim off that counts I think its the airport and you are only covered for so much per kilo up to and amount (a silly smallish amount too)

Bank/Credit Card statements showing card transactions?

Receipts for pretty much anything you bought leading up the hol that you could claim as taking?

Isint it just a set amount they compensate you with normally? The airline I mean.. You should get something from them.. surely.

Glad that the holiday was good. Hope that your mum was OK as well.
Bad luck with the luggage but it may well turn up. They often do. They mainly just get put on the wrong plane and have to be sorted in Switzerland or somewhere!! Fingers crossed.
I've had a google though and found various info:

http://www.ukecc.net/sub.asp?id=227
When baggage is delayed, lost or damaged the airline may be liable for damages under the Montreal Convention 1999. There is a maximum limit on the airline’s liability of 1,000 Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (Approximately £756, the value of an SDR is based on a basket of international currencies. The calculation is made daily by the International Monetary Fund and is available on www.imf.org) per passenger

This site is worth having a look at.

thank you both - im trying to be optimistic! my mum was fine - except at the airport to be honest, all the rushing and walking/stairs was a bit too much, and some people have no patience, but hey we got through :)
