I clearly look 18 and i go in to by a scratch card and i get id'ed but worst of all they refused my id and decided not to sell it to me. A hour later i go in and they are selling them to people who look about 5.

....so you're not 18?
#2
lesson learnt: saved £1 from not buying scratchcard.

Many places have an over 21 policy which is crazy saying it's only 16 to buy lottery. I serve lottery and I sometimes ask for id and they say they are 18 or over, just take it as a compliment.

What ID did you use? There must be reason why they didn't accept.

Many shops now adopt a "Think 25" policy as opposed to a "Think 21".

Something similar happened to me at ASDA a few months back, I went to get a scratchcard & got refused I'm 21 by the way, so I asked my dad to get it as I didn't have any I.D with me then they refused to serve him also because he was with me! :w00t:

A lot of this stems from the alcohol laws, which the police and trading standards are clamping down on in a hard way, hence the 'think 25' policies now in place. The problem is, if they are caught serving someone under age, that person is fined and cautioned, the company receive a fine, and they could also have their licence revoked. Where I work, if you are caught no ID'ing someone who clearly looks under age (of 25) = immediate dismal.

Basically, you want to buy age restricted products, have the correct id. No idea why they refused your driving licence though.
