I can't see anywhere it has the hours / minutes played that day - though there is a total hours played overall ... just wondered if anyone knows whether it is possible to get this info as I am having big rows with my son who thinks he's only been playing 10 mins when it's more like an hour!
Thanks

Why do you not give it to him and then take it away after an hour?

I think you need to step up and let him know who's the adult in this relationship.

Why dont you use an alarm clock/egg timer so you can set it together and prove the time is up.

Look at the recorded play time at the start of the day & make a note of it when you son is watching.

Let your son play with the console as usual.

Look at the play time together at the end of the play session.

Teach him about subtraction &/or how to calculate the difference between two times.

Who says video games are not educational? ;)

We are setting the microwave alarm at the moment... but I was hoping to be able to get the days individual play time almost to shock him into realising how long he sometimes plays for and to get him to take a bit more responsibility for how long he is playing for (this worked on the Wii where you can look at the individual play times).

It just seems weird that you can get the total play time, but can't access the breakdown of it anywhere ...

Thanks everyone :)

Only charge it for 5 mins before letting him have it

That's a great idea - just need somewhere to hide the chargers!

I would like him to take a bit more responsibility rather than it always be me saying it's time to turn off...

Why not find some counters or toy money or something similar & use them as "credits" for game-play?

Don't use them as "bribes" but have a rule that if he is good for a duration of time (such as when you are at the dentist, or shopping, or walking to school, or whatever) then he will be rewarded with a coin that means 10 minutes of game-play at the end of the day.

(You may need to actually keep the physical "credit" item in a box or similar receptacle so that they do not get lost throughout the day)

If he does not behave himself or do as he is asked then "credits" can be removed.

At the end of the day, or week, count up the "credits" & allow him to play for the equivalent duration of time awarded.

Also, if by a sweet shop or during a trip to the supermarket, for instance, & he asks for something you could suggest that he may have, for example, £1 worth of sweets, or comics, or whatever, or 20 minutes game-play (by showing the £1 & the "credits" & letting him choose).

Eventually he'll not only realise the value of money but also that a positive attitude brings rewards.

Depending on his age (now) you can extend this idea to helping with chores around the home (washing-up, or tidying away dinner plates, or keeping his room tidy, or putting away his clothes, etc).

Slap him?

around the cheek area of his face.

if you're right handed go for his left cheek if you're left handed go for his right cheek.

HTH

edit: fanpages' idea is slightly better than mine. :)
