It's a disgrace the way these brave men have been treated. I've signed.

Totally agree. My Grandad rarely spoke of his experiences in WW2, but one of the very few things he did talk about and made sure we knew, was his total admiration and respect for the Gurkhas.

They have sacrificed a lot for us over the years, it is only right that we give a little back, and treat them the same as British soldiers..

What i don't get is, how they :
have fought for Britain in various wars
Speak much better English than the large amount of polish people I have met
Aren't asking for anything special, just to be able to live here

But their getting refused?!?!

How the hell can that possibly be justified?!

Totally agree. It was fine for these guys to fight and defend this country. Makes you cry, particularly given the influx we have of spongers from the EU and so called asylum seekers.

Citizenship shouldnt even be a concern, should be immediate for them.

Hell, sign up for Yanks for 3yrs i'm sure and they let anyone have citizenship.
And the Gurkha's cant even get it here, countrys knackered.

yes i think it is more to do with their pension, as they work same conditions as our services, get paid a lot less and no pension, to me this is not right.

It's also to do with citizenship. Those who left after 1997 get to stay automatically if they want, those who left before don't. See here.

This has got to be the most worthy cause on the #10 website!

Do you think they will take any notice?

Nah no room coz of all the terrorists! Oh thats a myth as well, its just an excuse to give you identity cards and take your DNA.

Don't forget if you carry an ID card it stops terrorism;)

I would sign but the petition has no meaningful timeframe for length of service so effectively 2 weeks service means british citizenship. That cant be right although I do agree long term service should.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to give all Ex Gurkha soldiers and their families who have served our country British citizenship on leaving the service.
