Screwfix-although you have to submit card details, they don't take payment until you have collected.

Click and collect and reverse and collect are totally different things, though.

Click and collect is when you order something to be delivered from a warehouse/supplier to a shop. For obvious reasons they won't dispatch the goods until payment is received.

Reserve and collect is when you make a reservation for goods which are already on the shelf in a shop. The staff just take it off the shelf and put it in the back, so if you don't turn up it doesn't really matter.

Pretty much every shop would be willing to put something aside for you, like 'reserve and collect', so I don't see the point of this thread :|

They have two systems depending on the stock in the store - if your chosen store has the stock, you can reserve it online and pay for it instore. If they don't have stock at the store but they do centrally you can pay for it and they'll deliver to a local store for collection so basically home delivery but a bit cheaper and quicker potentially.

They do sometimes, all depends if the store has stock or if they order it in

Argos is the same

That's good to know thanks. Every time I have tried it recently I have had to pay up front so I assumed they had done away with it. It's much easier sometimes to be able to pay in store.

I've been finding the same with my store as well as I prefer just going to the store and paying, I'm not sure if they're carrying less stock in the store and relying more on central warehouses. You can tell if the chosen store has stock or not when you got the basket and check availibility - if it shows as Reserve and Collect then they have the item in store which you can reserve and pay for it when you collect it however if it shows as pay and collect then the local store doesn't have the item and you'll need to pay for it first and have it delivered to the store.
