Only Stwpd Cowz Txt N Drive - Don't Text and Drive Advert Programme

Carefree 17-year-old Cassie Cowan bunks off work with friend Emma to cheer up Jules, who has found herself pregnant and dumped. Their simple car journey becomes a nightmare when distracted Cassie drives into oncoming traffic, with horrendous consequences.

Some of you may remember the advert that was talked about a few months back, about the girl who crashed whilst texting on the phone. The full 30 minute programme was on last night, iPlayer link in next post. It is certainly very well done, and i think it will be a giood educational tool

Did not know it was on last night.

Just watched parts of it on iplayer (will go back and watch it all later).

What an totally stunning program and so well made and thought provoking.

I hope all those that think it is "fun" to use your mobile phone while driving take 30 minutes out of your life to watch it.

btw You may get more people reading this if you change the subject from "Only Stwpd Cowz Txt N Drive" to something else.

Many people may see this "txt speak" and skip quickly over it (like I nearly did) without realising what it is about.

Very well done, but the mother not being allowed to shop at the store seems a bit unrealistic...

Getting it from TPB. Looks interesting.

Not sure she wasnt allowed to shop there, only that people were unwilling to serve her or were too upset to serve her. In a small town I could see that happening as everyone would "know" (maybe not in a large city)

I think they were trying to show the wide ranging effects of an accident like this.

It is not just the accident itself but the effect it has on the driver, other members of your family, on other families and so on.

Perhaps a bit over dramatic, but it would certainly make kids and young adults think if shown in schools and colleges.

You'd prefer the crash to happen for real and them to show real injuries? Of course it is fake.

they probs could have made it look more realistic, when it was showing inside the car it just looked shockingly fake

i mean casualty and then kinda programs dont look that fake

This was made on a tight budget for West Gwent police, Casualty have a lot more money to spend from the BBC

Reminded me of Final Destination 2 tbh.

You initially think 'Just acting so it won't affect me'

Then you realize it is based off a true story.

Then you realized these true stories are happening all over the place all the time

All these factors and it really hit home for me even though I don't drive!

Slightly surprised they sell 2/3 litre bottles of cider and Lambrini in the petrol station shops!!!

This should be shown on BBC1 primetime

£10,000!
That is quite tight budget!

It is when you consider they had to buy three cars, hire about 10 actors/actresses, not to mention sound crews, camera man, stunt men and make up people etc. etc.

Do you have a link to the news story?

Apologies - Appears to be a fictional character (The court sentence bit at the end made me think it was true).

But it is true as it happens all the time to people, otherwise this film wouldn't be needed in the first place :(

Damn, I was hoping you were onto something there. I searched google to see if it was true and came up with a blank as well
