Opening a portable Hard drive

guys, need consultation in opening a portable 2.5 disk.
I'm using thinkpad x61 and found that any 2.5'' SATA would fit (if height <9.5mm)

I have a spare iOmega 320Gb portable. I thought of opening it and move the drive into my laptop.. Will it be compatible?
Are these portable drives having the same internal disk SATA drives within them?
Or if you can direct me to a compatible hdd also it would be great..
Any help would be much appreciated..

Hi.
The iomega select series in the black plastic have a sata 2.5" Seagate Momentus, last one i opened did .

If there are rubber feet on the base then just take em off with a pin, there will e some screws to take off, then the rest of the housing should just be clipped together. Do it right and you should be left with a Caddy for futur use also.

Don't know whether that drive is SATA or IDE inside that model, just be careful when you open it.
