Opinions On Buying 2nd Hand Plasma TV

Hi all!

I'm looking at buying a second hand plasma off Gumtree, (Samsung 42" Plasma PS42Q97HDX) and I'd like to know if anybody thinks it's a bad idea to buy a second hand plasma, and also what you think of the model? (Sorry, I'm not very techy)

The listing says:
"Samsung 42" plasma tv model number ps42q97hdx/exu 2 years old, perfect condition, working 100%cost £700 can be seen working, "

The guy said he'd sell me it for £320 which I thought was good...I'm just worried incase I take it home and it's got screen burn or something!?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

I would say spend about £100 extra and get a new one or LCD.

42" screens are now at the sub £400 stage anyway, why not opt for a brand new one with a warrenty.

Have bought several second hand plasma's over the years though always gone for Panny and only ever bought off AV Forums as people tend to know what they are doing over there so have looked after the kit.

You'd want to see it working and inspect it for dead pixels etc. I'd never buy a used TV without seeing it working so if it's too far for you to collect in person then I'd pass and check out AV Forums as there are always loads of sets for sale there :)

Avoid LCD... Plasma far batter IMO ;-)

Yeah, I've actually been looking since August and I'm stumped on what to get. I was going to go for a 32" but cheapest, decent make is £300+ and I could possibly get this for £320....so I'm thinking bigger TV at same price etc... :o dunno!

Yeah ,buy a new one ..............with a warranty , not that you'd need a warranty if you buy a Plasma . I bought a Panasonic TH37 6 or 7 years ago from Richer Sounds , absolutely perfect picture quality now as it was when I first bought it .
Seen some terrible quality LCd's ........an LG for instance . Someone I know bought a 40 " model ..........disgracefull picture quality , blocky and washed out colours ..............total rubbish .
Whatever you buy , if it's a quality picture you want ...............go for a Plasma .
