I think what he is saying is that the sum of the parts is less than that of the whole, ie he could buy a 500gig drive and an enclosure sperately for less than the price of a pre-assembled jobbo, though to be honest I too would like to know where!

Did you pay the full price of the second one, i.e. £104.99 or did you pay the price of the cheaper one £59.99, but they gave you the more expensive one? I you paid the cheaper price for the more expensive one then you got a bargain. If you reserved the cheaper one, but had to pay the full price for the more expensive one then take it back as it's more than you need if you just want a simple back-up drive for one computer.

The first drive (I may well be stating the obvious) is a standard USB external drive, but the second one is a network drive. This means you can connect it to your wireless router with an ethernet cable and all your PCs/laptops can access it via the router. The USB one can only be attached to one PC/laptop at a time.

Maybe take it back saying you've lost the receipt but it's still in it's box etc?

I agree a network one is worth more but I don't think they're for most people. I wouldn't pay any extra for one. If it was the same price there's no reason not to have one (unless it's got bad reviews).
