Hi Guys
My internet connection has played up or frozen or just been unable to find pages every night for the last 3 nights - usually between 6 and 9. Ih ave tried phoning but when they do answer they ask you to phone back and then cut you off anyway. I cant access the orange home page either. Can anyone shed any light? I have a live box and orange broadband. I also cant access orange web mail or freecycle.
Is there anything on the orange home page saying their service is cack???? any help appreciated. Many thanks

i am on same and have had no problems, nothing on orange about problems either, sorry cant be of more help, what is your livebox saying when this happens, i mean the lights

lights are all ok. all it does is starts saying cannot find server. and then its pretty amazing if i can even get one site up - this is up, so is quidco and ebay. yahoo mail is down too

I've had exactly the same problem although its happened outside of the 6-9pm time zone.

It has been ongoing for the last three days although I haven't even tried to call Orange yet as I know what's likely to be said. There is no mention of any faults on the website and I have checked my Livebox, router and network settings and there seems to be no problem other than my broadband connection so there is some kind of fault with Orange! It certainly wouldn't be the first time they've had a major fault...

Thanks hitman. I can access orange webmail now. but its useless. I usually have to input reports in the evening - if i cant access the web i dont get paid!. so much for broadband!!! god knows what speed it might say it is but id guess dial up is faster!
where abouts are you?? My mate just told me that its been reported we will run out of broadband space or width or whatever. perhaps there are just too many people using it???????

Hi Aquatic, I'm down near the south coast near Eastbourne.

It must be very annoying for you given your trying to work. Hotdeals is giving me the best connection at the moment, I've tried ebay, bbc, orange and googlemail and all of those are very intermittent and will allow me to go through up to 5 pages max before dying on me. Dial up would certainly be a better option right now, if my system had a 56k modem...

Maybe their service has become oversubscribed unless they've suddenly changed their ts & cs again!

Fingers crossed were up and running again 'very soon'.

They are currently not taking calls as they have an automated message saying 'We are currently receiving high calls regarding problem displaying page. We are unsure what is causing this but are trying to fix it?'.
'Please try your internet in a shortwhile'

Not much help at all but handy to keep the numbers tho for future problems.

And they did tell confirm 12>4 is the best time to call.

they always have that, it keeps you on the phone longer, meaning more money for them!

The penny drops.
I rang and went through a very lengthy conversation ( 15mins ) only to find i had been directed to the wrong section.
I was then put on hold and given the speed dial details.
Having since read the T&C's of the "help line" i now understand why i was kept on the line.

Cheers Papasmurf i will bare this in mind for furture reference.

try www.saynoto0870.com, i think there is a landline number for them, or try calling from your orange mobile for free (151 i think?)

i use Orange (now free with the missus' mobile contract). Last year (when i was paying for orange broadband) the exchange near us went down for around a month. I wrote to them requesting my monthly payment back as i hadn't received the service i had paid for, and also compensation for costs incurred by having to go to friends' houses to use theri internet. I think i got around £50 compensation, which i thought was fair as i piggybacked on my neighbours wifi (with their permission, of course!)

so i would recommend writing to them detailing times when they have not provided the service to you and also to request compensation for time spend chasing them and money to cover the cost of calls.

Mine seems to be better, ie, I can get into more sites but I'm still not able to get into quite a few or I get turfed out after browsing a few pages...

Me thinks it is getting close to moving on from Orange, they have been quite good until now. It's like being but on trickle charge...

I have a similar deal i pay a fiver for my broadband (8mb) and up until last week never had any issues.

I would write and ask for money back but as i pay so little ( imho ) i would feel a bit guilt asking for compo. In saying that i have a rough ride the last few days and like thehitman have considered it time to part ways but it seems fine today. ( i will be keeping a close eye tho for any future glitches )

Thanks Aquatic for creating this thread to everyone for their invaluable responses and suggestions they have all come in really handy.

Just a tip that seems to be working for me - when its all not loading Ive rebooted the pc and unplugged the live box from the mains and let it all start again. It connects in anew and seems to fix the problem - it hasnt lasted totally but it has made it much better. sorry this isnt written very well but hopefully you know what i mean and it might help
