I got a contract phone from orange.. and i got it unlocked by a 3rd party..

Now the touch screen is playing up and i need to take it to orange to get repaired..

Will I be able to do this or will they reject it because it is unlocked? Maybe the warranty is void? :?

The phone is a samung tocco and it keeps crashing. And the phone is frozen,

You could try resetting it to the manufactorers condition (should be somewhere on phone to do that).

lol, somehow resetting it wont normally re-lock the handset... lol

What is the phone make??? Orange dont usually make phones, so usually you would get a phone repaired by the manufacturer under the warranty... If you send it to Orange they will probably just send it the repair centre for the relevant manufacturer (e.g Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson, etc) so it'll probably take longer

Yeah i know, but by resetting it im hoping that the problems ( of the screen freezing) might stop...

They will send it to samsung but will they realize it has been unlocked and refuse to repair?

is it unlocked and debranded or just unlocked? I dont think you'll have much of a problem if its just unlocked as its hard to tell.

They wont touch it (unless you pay) if it was an unauthorised unlock.

I guess i'm just going to have to wait and find out tomorrow..

It isnt debranded, just unlocked..

Has anybody had this kind of experience?

And also anybody know why it keeps on freezing?

i actually work for orange so think it will be fine, providing it was purchased from orange direct or orange store - if you advise of the freezing they should call cust services and speak to the faults department, they will run a diagnostic check and if deemed fauly they will offer to replace free / for a charge depending on insurance, if you purchased from and independant shop (ie carphone warehouse phones4u etc) they may advise they have to replace for you @ there store, but in experience CPW & phones4u normally send them back to the manufacturors for repairs !!!!

Very helpful mate thank you..

I got it from orange themselves and have already had a problem with the camera and they sent it off for repair.. so this is the second time. Hopefully they will give me a replacement this time. Thanks for the info mate  rep

Why dont you just send it to a Samsung repair centre... Cut out the middle man... It will take you longer as I said sending it to Orange especially taking it to an Orange store, they will hold on to it, then post it to Samsung, then receive it back whenever they receive it back, then call you and then you will have to pick it up again...

Most of the larger CPW stores are Samsung and Nokia service centres, if they are not they can at least point you in the right direction to your nearest Samsung repair centre... The unlock shouldnt make a difference, they dont normally check and even if they did they wouldnt know if it had been unlocked by Orange or somewhere else...

When i wasnt happy with my c905, orange sent a brand new phone to me next day delivery and collected my phone at the same time.
