Orange Retentions and the iPhone? AND orange retention second time round ( 18 months later)??

apparently im abit screwed wehn it comes to upgrading next time, because, at the moment my contract is only £15 a month cos of my £15 loyalty discount and free bundles etc!! However, this means that because I hardly ever go over anymore, I won't have built up that much loyalty points annoyingly and therefore will get nowhere as near a good as upgrade as last time

Has anyone else been in a similar situation like this?

i too am trying to upgrade to iphone on orange, they tell me there are no deals on them, as they come from apple. so i dont get the 10% loyalty, also they say there fair usage is 750mb and o2 is 500mb i thought o2 was more. would love to hear if anyone had got a deal from them.

My way around the stupid prices was to buy an iPhone handset..

Then use my orange contract (non iphone) in there.. Just added the loyalty bundle..

Paying £22.50 for:
-Unlimited texts.
-200minutes.
-500mb Internet.
-Orange care.

Ahh but who cares if you arent going to be using the upgrade?

Just use the old "O2 have offered x for x amount"... It always seems to work. Get the best possible deal/handset out of them and then just sell the phone on here, ebay or CEX :-D

That's my perfect situation aha;-)

Oh no thats not what I'm saying
what I'm saying is, it's stupid that because of my loyalty discount and free bundles on my current contract, when I go to upgrade this time, I will hardly have any loyalty points!
I wish they'd just let me stay on the same contract and have a new phone but I bet its not that simple :x

You may want to wait about until the 14th Jan when Vodafone release the iphone. Quidco claim they will be doing cashback.

Also will be interesting to see the reaction to Google's Nexus phone to be unveiled on Tuesday.

Yes o2 are still unlimited as always, subject to fair usage. Which means if you over use it they cut your speed to a crawl. Also using it for tethering is excluded and continuous data protocol (ie voip)

There are no offers for anyone on the iPhone on Orange (and I think O2). Everyone gets the same deal, upgrades and retentions have been told there are no exceptions and, I believe, they have had their systems rigged so they can't discount the iPhone plans. . .
#12
all the network providers keep saying its not them who set the plans but its apple which is why they cant do anything only way you might get a discount is if you work for apple or a network provider and maybe quidco in the future.

From what I've heard on AVforums and Mse some people do appear to be getting some discounts, albeit not big ones! And refurb iphones!

the only reason i wanted to stay with orange is i have 5 magic numbers that i use a lot, which i guess makes it worth while for me, only thing i will prob use it for is facebook mostly and most defenetly want bejewled on there too.
#15
i think it jst shows what a rip off the iphone is when there are no offers like someone else suggested just buy a handset and take out a cheap contract with a decent phone that you can sell

exactly the same I have two magic numbers and hardly use any of my minutes!!
Can anyone answer my loyalty points question??

Think of it as this if your not making it worth while for orange then they are not going to make it worth while for you, the more you spend the more you get so as you have said youve spent less this year your not going to get the best deal

It's abit of a con really isnt it :x Offer someone a really good offer for their next contract then completely rip them off by upping it on the one after that!

Just wonderinf if anyone else had any experience of having a good retentions offer then 18 months later tried upgrading again?

I can 100% tell you there is a cap. In the last 2 months my missus has had a text warning she's failed their FUP. One more and she loses data.

You should take the persons name and details when you ask these things. It could be useful at a later date. (Esp if you recorded it!!!):p

Well you must not use it often enough then and not in areas with high data transfers issues. So you break the service agreement by tethering and by using voip on the data network and as you are using skype you must have jailbroke your phone too.

So they could cut you off, but they wont if your in your contract period they will just cut your network speed thus making tethering painfully slow and voip impossible.

But if it works for you and you can get away with it all is good and you can smile in the knowledge your getting the most out of your network. I just hope your not the first to complain when it hangs because the networks busy.

you do not have to jailbreak to install skype. you have to jailbreak to get the 3g restrictor on
