Orange Wednesday Tickets for 3D film - some advice please!

Hi

I've not been to the cinema in ages and I know tickets for 3D films are more expensive but am just wondering if anyone knows if you still get 2 tickets for the price of one for these films as hoping to take kids to the local Vue to see toy story 3 tomorrow. We have been given some 3D glasses so does anyone know if we will pay for one ticket and get the 2nd free in the normal way as on the Vue's website it mentions a premium you have to pay for 3D films. Not sure if we'd still have to pay this if we have our own 3D glasses though! The website states:

All our cinemas bar Dublin participate in Orange Wednesdays; the promotion is valid on all regular performances, Wednesdays only. Additional charges apply for 3D, VIP Seats, Gold Class, Over 18s and Evolution’ To take advantage of the promotion, please text the word “film” to 241. Bookings cannot be made online or by phone, terms and conditions apply (www.orange.co.uk).

Any help would be greatly appreciated as don't want to get a shock when we get there!!

I saw it in 3d the other day and must say the 3d wasn't as good as other films i have seen in this form so i would advise as above

I'm sure I've done this but oddly I can't actually remember if the 3D tax was applied or not.

In any event I would follow the advice above and not see it in 3D. I saw it in 2D and it is a brilliant film.

I think that my local vue cinema allows you to use Orange Wed tickets on 3D films, but it makes you pay the 3D premium for all tickets...ie you get one ticket free but have to pay the extra on both tickets.

Don't know about Vue but in Cineworld for Orange Wed you'd pay ticket price and 3D premium for 1 and get two tickets

How does this orange Wednesday thing work?
Which Cinemas is it for etc etc
Where do you get the codes from?

Agree with other posters about seeing it in 2D. I saw it in 3D and, while I love the 3D effect, it didn't really add to this film much.

PS bring a packet of tissues, I have not yet met a man that didn't cry at this film!

Thanks for all the replies and advice about watching it in 2D - hopefully it'll still be cheaper than buying 2 tickets even if we have to pay for the premium x 2! My 6 yr old has never seen a 3D film so this was gonna be his first but if it's not that good in 3D maybe we'll just watch it in 2D and wait for a better 3D film!!

You need to be an Orange customer - there is info about Orange Wednesdays on the orange website.

There are two ways to get hold of your 2 for 1 ticket:
Text ‘FILM’ to 241 and we’ll send you your text ticket
(text costs 35p)
iPhoneGot an iPhone? Download the Orange Wednesdays app
and hit the ‘241’ tab

Hope this helps!

Yes, God forbid people actually give proactive advice. If the OP is determined to see it in 3D then fair enough, but on the off chance that they are labouring under the misapprehension that the 3D version is something extraordinary the extra advice, whilst not explicitly asked for, may well still be useful.

It is still an amazing effect to see, and it is not as if the 3D in this movie is done badly or anything, just that it does not add to the enjoyment of the movie, like in some other movies.

Think we are going to watch it in 3d. We saw Monsters Vs aliens in 3d and it was great.
