Hi, as an Orange customer i've never used the Orange Wednesdays thing where you get 2 for 1 Cinema tickets.

The missus was gonna take my daughter to see Rio tomorrow afternoon. Can i text to get the code and just tell her what it is so she can get the 2 for 1?

And also, could i go into the cinema early doors (say 10am) and book the tickets for a later showing, around 3pm?

you can text for the code and then forward it to someone elses phone, and yes,you can go early and book the tickets for later

We were once told that as the "forwarded text" wasn't the original (ie not from "241") it would not be accepted at the cinema.

I setup a contact called "241" to receive the text from so it then looks the same as the original - no probs since

as above (barky), I get the code onto my phone then forward the whole message on. The staff at the cinema have never asked to see the service provider on the phone, they are only interested in the voucher code.

My local cinema (Sheffield) take the phone off you to check what provider you're with so you can't get away with forwarding the text anymore.

How can the cinema do that?
Orange wednesdays is all about the code - however way you get it.

I haven't had the chance to go to the cinemas on a wednesday for a while, but if i was ever asked to hand my phone over, I'd say do one.

I'm on O2 and have used a forwarded text loads of times with no problem.

It should be completely fine, I've used forwarded ones before with no problem. If she's worried though, write the code down and tell them your battery died so you had to jot it down instead.

They did it with everyone. I'd got the code on my dad's phone and then forwarded it to mine, I told the man that but he charged me full.

If your dad was to go down to the cinema with you and buy a ticket (to get 2) and then give them both to you before going home, you would both get in to see the film using those tickets.

The way I look at it, the code is one use only (so can't be used again) - If I wanted to give my code to someone else then they are using it and I won't be able to that week. At the end of the day Orange still get their custom from me and the cinema still get their cut off Orange. It shouldn't matter that its not my bum on the cinema seat.

If I lived nearer a Cineworld I could do that but I'm 10 miles away from his house and 25 miles away from the cinema so it's not worth dragging him all the way there lol.

Ha ha, I wasn't suggesting that is what you should do [although, re-reading it, it does sound like I was suggesting it!]- I was pointing out how ridiculous it is that the cinema didn't allow you to use the code.

simplest answer is as above - "my phone was dying and I can't risk not being able to call a taxi home, so I had to write it down"
