Orange Wednesdays Dispute

I went to the cinema last night at Cineworld. i have an unlimited pass so get in free, but on wednesdays with an orange wednesday code you can get someone else in for free.

however, i am not on orange, so i got a code forwarded onto me from my friend. the guy refused to accept it though because it was sent from 'Rob' as opposed to 'Orange'.

Now technically he is correct and i was in the wrong, although everybody does this, and i have never been on orange yet used orange wednesdays dozens of times with no hassle before.

So do you think it is worth complaining about, considering you can only generate one code per phone, and the codes can only be used once anyway?

Also does anyone know where to find an address for their head office as i cant find it anywhere on the site?

thanks

So you were in the wrong, got caught and STILL want to complain?! oO

Hes right to refuse it. Its unfortunate though.

its unfortunate you were caught out, never heard of that happening, but you cant complain-you arent on orange,so technically you arent entitled to the code-its a perk for orange users only.Like I say,its a shame this happened because loads of people do it,but you have no chance of lodging a valid complaint-the cinema are perfectly within their rights.

Normally you just read the code to them, surprised they asked to see the phone. I get someone to send me it then I just change their name to Orange just in case.

I wouldn't bother complaining - I don't think you'll get very far. I've done it a few times, getting an Orange code from someone else, but I always read the code out to the cashier - don't hand over your phone!

He's a jobsworth. I always get it forwarded and never had a problem.

Although I would never let them touch my phone I read it out to them. If you do it again change the conact on your phone to ORANGE :)

you were unlucky to get a jobsworth but he is right and if you complain you will look very silly

As you said technically are wrong, and this is the first time you have been caught. therefore if you complain the cinema's may tighten up and then it will have a knock effect to everyone who uses the Orange Wednesdays codes. Worst still if they come to the conclusion its being abused Orange could stop it for everyone.

Cinemas where i am ask for the code to be read to them. They never see the phone so there'd be no way of them seeing who it was from so why not just read it out next time.

so you're not with Orange, but you plan on writing to them to complain the cinema wouldn't admit you with an orange code? What on earth do you think they'll say in response to that?!
#12
Why not just change 'Rob' in your phone to say 'Orange' as the contact name.

EDIT: Just noticed someone else above said the same. Good on the man who refused you if you have no common sense it's your own fault!

Orange Wednesday terms & conditions:

14. There is only one free admission per Orange Subscriber per paid cinema ticket.
18. Text tickets are non-transferable.

Firstly, you're not an Orange subscriber, secondly the codes are non-transferable. Done and dusted

If someone's sending me an orange code I just change their name to 241 that way they can't say anything, you shouldn't have been so daft.

well in future change 'robs' name to 'ORANGE' incase they want to see you're phone?
then you wont get refused? problem solved for next time!
and i wouldn't complain cause they'd prob get you done for fraud (in a way) because you're cheating them out,

I'm not on Orange but have previously had the code forwarded to me, what I done was just change the name of the sender to "Orange" works a treat :)

You should have told them it was Rob wednesdays,,,

Is this guy serious? You got refused a code that you were not entitled to use and think you can legitimately complain about it, because 'everyone else does it?' Really? Shocking....
#23
Yes I would complain if I were you the cashier practically robbed you. Now just off to see if I can get presale tickets priority from o2 with my Orange phone fingers crossed
#24
tbh I actually thought you were allowed to send the text to a 'mate' orange still get their 35p text. I went in and booked tickets for 8 of us once, just read out the 4 codes off my o2 phone :)

If you get away with it then fine all is well and good, but Orange Wednesdays are meant as an incentive to join up for Orange. If you use this and you're not entitled to and get caught then it's tough I'm afraid - you certainly can't complain they didn't accept it.
#26
I got an Orange sim, paid £5 and registered the number on the Iphone app on my O2 phone. This seems to work fine, even gave someone else the code to use last night.
#27
I normally change the name to '241' which is what it says when its sent to you.
#28
Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth!

Why not do the same as most and just buy a payg and put £5 on it which will last ages if it's only for Orange Weds? At best you'll get the member of staff rewarded for being so observant and at worst, you'll have your Unlimited card revoked for abuse!

You chanced your luck - it didn't work....move on!
