Just received this email from orange:-

Orange would like to thank you for your recent application and regrets to inform you that on this occasion we were unable to process your order as requested.

Orange attempt to verify the details you supply when making your order prior to authorisation and unfortunately in this instance it appears that we were unable to confirm some of that information.

This may have been the name and address (or delivery details, if different) which you supplied or the details of the credit or debit card which you provided for payment of your order.

As a result we have felt that we are unable to ensure that the equipment will be delivered in a manner which is not only timely and convenient but also secure for both Orange and our customer.

As with all mail order purchases there are risks to all parties concerning delivery of and payment for any requested goods.

Orange attempt to validate the details of a credit or debit card and the corresponding personal information supplied with the card issuer.

Although on this occasion we were unable to complete your order a full range of PAYG handsets are available from your nearest Orange Retail Store.

If you require any further information, please write to the following address:

Customer Security
Senhouse Road
Lingfield Way
Darlington
DL1 4YQ

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to welcoming you to Orange in the future.

anyone else in this situation?

sounds like your card details were incorrect - it may have been your billing address was slightly different to the one you stated on the form, or it is different to the delivery address.

give them a call - tell them you're worried that something is wrong with your details and that this has caused your order to be cancelled.

Is it aproblem caused by using the wincanton oposo?

i dont think its related to the wincanton code, i managed to tie the Wincanton 10% off/month with the recent £10 off/month discount with no issues. They even phoned me to run through my first bill and make sure i was happy with the discounts and then gave me few free picture messages for a month.

I have just contacted my bank, they have not refused any transactions. This is definitely something with orange.

Maybe its because I tried to get more than one phone using different cards, lol.

Orange want me to contact the customer security to find out details of the refusal. will see if any phones come through the post and then contact them next week.

Any suggestions?

I've had this emai...I think they are now wise to the code being used by unauthorised buyers...I managed to get the Nokia 3110 for £14.99 but wouldn't let me order another for OH...seems fair...after all I'm not entitled to the discount so I've no complaints.

I agree that this kind of deals are not legal for us and since we could use it, that is good. Only if some poeple start abusing it like getting many phones and sell them somewhere else... this is what causing the problem most of the time where the supplier ban the code or causing trouble to ourselves. Anyway, I know this is just impossible.... unfortunatelly. I ordered a phone from them about two months ago and received it in good condition and they keep me updated with the progress of the order. Great!

As per the other thread, do YOU work for wincanton then seeing as you said you had used the code.... if you dont then you wasnt entitled to use it so at the end of the day you abused it also. if you do work for them it tells you to go to a shop and i guess just show them proof and you will get the discount still ;-)

Guess I got in just before they pulled this!

I grabbed an LG Chocolate for £29.99 when the compulsory £10 top-up had disappeared!! Delivered last Friday.

I believe there were other ones knocking around apart from wincanton oposo (sounds like a spell from Harry Potter), so it probably didn't expire through abuse. It had been around since about February last year, so maybe it was only valid for 12 months??

There's a thread on MSE that started on 3rd March 2007 using wincanton oposo:
