Just seen a post on one of the freebies posts from a member saying they had ordered but wasnt sure what they were going to do with it - Now i'm not being nasty or holier than thou but shouldnt we think twice about requesting a freebie if we arent really sure or even semi sure that we will find a use for it? I see loads of people offering sim cards on freecycle - i'm guessing as a result of getting freebies without being able to use them. Also if we ask and dont use it are we not potentially depriving someone who does genuinely want and who will use it from receiving it as there may be a limited amount available?
Ive deliberately not included potential cost to the environment with postal deliveries etc etc etc because although that is important Im not here to preach that one - just to ask the question

i do not agree, quite a lot of people on here as well as other places buy a lot of things they do not need just because they cannot ignore a good. so for the fact the an item is a freebie does not make it any different. If one can afford to buy one that you do not, it makes it more appealing to requesting one that you do not even have to pay for.

I went into Tesco the other day and they had pie's on BOGOF - I would never have eaten the free one before the BB date, but I took it anyway! People can't help themselves when bargains are concerned!

It is that get a bargain thing. I came here to get a cheap laptop beginning of the year and since I've spent £hundreds since. Considering I've nearly £250 in the quidco total - I only found out about quidco when coming here, I've turned into the consomer I used to protest :-(

Yes, I agree, I only order things that I am going to use. Whats the point on ordering free cat or dog food if you havent got any animals to feed.

Only order what you are going to use and give others a chance at the freebies. What is not good for you will be good for someone else. - share and share alike.

A society of greed regardless of need.

I agree, not because I'm against it but because I am what you describe. I don't bother with freebies anymore, not since ordering a cuddly cow from cow and gate and then giving it to charity as it's the last thing my son needed.

It's the "bargains" I'm bad for, I buy stuff because of the discount rather than really needing it. I'm trying to get into the way of thinking that if the sale price was the RRP and not a deal, would I buy it?

Hope for me yet LOL
