Just noticed that Xbox UK Facebook page has changed its Profile picture and cover photo to the original Xbox logo. Reddit users also spotted an original Xbox game appearing on the app as a related store item a few days ago.

Back compatibility support coming?

Edit: Anniversary of the original Xbox launch is tomorrow, but we can live in hope right?

I used to play a lot of GoldenEye Rogue Agent, back when I were a lad...

I don't seem to have the same rapport with these new fangled gamer types

Miss my old chipped xbox with a 250gb hard drive then rented 100s of games from blockbuster & ripped.

Absolutely brilliant wish I still had it

Would love to see original XB supported on Xbox One.

There was an article about this over at MCV last month.

That destroyed gaming for me, it took away the sense of value from games and as such they became throwaway, there was no reason to invest in the game as another was a click away..

I hate piracy for that very reason..

I was a student at the time so did exactly the same as Rich, ut came away feeling the same as you Hari. I didn't finish anything because I just moved on in ten minutes. Played a lot of tutorials that gen.

The problem with original xbox games are if they were to be made backwards compatible only the campaigns would work as the original xbox servers have now been shut down, still will be cool though

Oh yes! I did purchase this a while back, as I completed Shenmue but never finished Shenmue 2! With Shenmue 3 on the horizon (I backed it, so have a copy coming) I need to get this completed so it's perfect if this happens....!!

I never even played my ps2/xbox online so I wouldn't be bothered, didn't even know it was a thing until the 360/ps3 days haha

Games were more focused on single player or multiplayer at the console back then anyway tbh.

Other than a few good exclusives (Halo, port of Shenmue, etc) the original Xbox was by far the worst console of that gen.
Granted you could do some awesome stuff with it in terms of homebrew but perhaps it was too far ahead of it's time.

Luckily the 360 followed as Microsoft may have left the console market otherwise.

The Original Xbox was the best console of that era for multiplatform games in high quality, and the GameCube coming in second place. PS2 did have the same multiplatform games as OX but the graphical quality was inferior and some games were console built to be played on one system over the other.

Two examples; Chaos Theory for Xbox and Killer 7 for GameCube.

Killer 7 loads quicker and looks better on the NGC than PS2, despite PS2 version being only one disc whereas on GC it's split to two.

GTA San Andreas is a great game regardless of platform, although the PS2 port is by far the worst of all.

Haha the Xbox was a great console and in all honesty I loved it more than the ps2, rallisport/halo/shenmue/voodoo vince/panzer dragoon orta/jet set radio future/phantom dust/quantum redshift/gunvalkyrie/Otogi 2/kotor 1/2/links (golf)/crimson skies... honestly I could be here all day.

The original Xbox was and still is an amazing console with great exclusives, Xbox has always had very little to offer in the jrpg genre which is the only downside for me.
