uhh. not what i meant.

dell service tags can be put on to their site to view the full original spec. Outlet tags, when viewed on the outlet site only show a summary spec. there is a tool that will allow you to see the full original spec using the dell outlet spec. i dont have the laptop yet, but i want to see what spec it was originally built to.

it was J9STL that posted this

To get service tag you need to click on the link from the outlet site that brings up a new window with the laptop details. If like me, you have XP, then right click this link (that brings up the details) and open in new tab. You then view source and scroll down to where you see
" the 3Y79X3J is the service tag, which you then input in the system configuration link:

i have vista. plus its a laptop i have already ordered and obviously not on the site anymore. i am soo impatient i just want to see the full spec now lol. it was an .exe file that you could put a outlet tag into and it would bring up the original full spec. Thanks for trying though sassie

The service tag will be located in the email if you received one.

The dell outlet service tag tool will not work as the Dell Outlet identifier will not be valid now seeing as you purchased the system.

I have pm'd you a link to the tool incase of future references / uses though.

thanks  thats exactly the thing. may come inhandy if there is a problem with the system i receive and need to choose another, or when the next outlet offer comes around.
repped.
