Outrageous Petrol Prices

Just received this in email, sounds like a good idea - afterall, what other options have we got, other than pay through the nose in silence.... like we always do !!! Anyhoo, if you think this may help, email it around to everyone.

We are hitting 98p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be
faced with paying £1 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain
day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just
laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to takeaggressive action
to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the
price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit
someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that
WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two
biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce
their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to
follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of
Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... Keep reading and I'll
explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to
at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... And those 300 send it to at least ten
more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... And so on, by the time the message reaches the
sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION
consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten
friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes
one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.
(And not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends
this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION
people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting
together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass
this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your
petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. I.e. Boycott BP
and Esso

Or you could just go on strike.

Anyway, doesn't the government take more than 69p a litre in tax? Total b******s.

ive been paying over £1 for ages because i usually top up premium unleaded fuel so the rise doesnt really affect me
[helper]#15
The Govt relies on the vat - if they don't collect it one way - they'll just collect it another way....
There's no easy answer - other than buy as fuel efficient car as you can or buy a tractor and run it on red diesel.....
#16
I got the same email too.
#17
its estimated (by the oil companies) that in 2 - 10 years time (between 2009 and 2017) oil demand will be higher than production when this happens the price of oil is going to rocket

only the super rich will be driving anywhere in 20 years time:w00t:

get it while you can

(above all depends on whether we as humans don't manage to find "solution" to the above - come on scientists find a solution quick!!!!!!!!)

With the rise in oil prices the government has been getting a very healthy increase in VAT receipts. So much for the "we haven't been raising it" argument...

Please take 2 minutes out to sign this official petition (For all the good it will do, lol)
#21
I got exactly the same email last time the prices rocketted
#22
Aye, it's total ****.

It's £1 per litre everywhere by mine now, and as high as 106p !!!
#23
Have people not heard of a 'gas conversion' kit for their cars?

THEN you can get get gas 'cheap' at around 50p a litre.
#24
Until we all have LPG, then that will rocket so the government can tax us all even more.

Whatever the trend regarding fuel leans towards, that is what will get taxed most (remember when diesel was cheaper than petrol, the diesel car demand rose, so did the diesel fuel !!)

300 million people!:w00t:

So we're all going to receive this email 6 times as there's only 60 million folks in the UK.

300 million would work because originally it was a USA centric email that was adapted. But that's assuming every Yank has internet access.

Whereever the email originated and when is irrelevant, are you happy paying nearly £1 a litre ? No, didnt think so. So what do we do about it ?

nothing petrol prices will continue to rise

we are approaching peak oil (if not already reached it as some commentators say)

we will be looking back in ten years time ........ do you remember when petrol was less than £2 a litre

interesting article here

Companies won't drop their prices, if anyone needs to reduce the price, its the tax the government takes off petrol. Petrol companies are already having to minimise their profit margins to very little just to get custom. I think its awful, but I don't drive.

Yawn. another useless petition.

Well at least it makes you all 'feel' as though your doing something to protest.

As opposed to doing what people like you always do.....absolutely nothing, which is why the country is in the state it is.

England:-

Highest tax rates.

Most expensive city in the World.

Benefits Galore

Freeloaders welcome.

Where doing right thing and earning a wage, being a useful member of society makes you worse off.
