  My friends nieces ran up over £2000 worth between them a while back , think it was with 02, not sure but there parents have had to pay it and made sure they are capped now with whatever plan they are on .

  dont orange have a thing of 50p per day if you go over your data
  i used some serious data (not tethering) for several months and my bills were no where near that

  I get 1gb internet every month. If i go over that i don't get charged, just slow down the usage.

  The EU recently legislated to impose a cap on mobile roaming charges. I'd suggest some research in that direction.
