Hi Guys,

Recently just checked my account and for some reason the de vere booking I made 6th September only came out on the 26th of this month sending me over my overdraft by £40, I didnt notice this until yesterday when I paid it off immediately but having just called lloyds they say they are going to charge me £45 for the pleasure.

The advisor said I could go into the bank and ask the manager for a let off basically, has anyone had any success with stuff like this or know the best way to do it?

any help greatly appreicated

still makes me wonder why people dont have Money organiser software (most of it is free). You know exactly where you'll be each month after ins / outs etc. It wouldnt have mattered when de veres had taken the money then, you would know you were going to go overdrawn at that stage.

Just say you want to close your account and they'll probably back down if its the first time

Should double check when stuff doesn't go out, sometimes it happens for whatever reason on there end, its not nice but you did spend the money set aside for that at some point. I would go in and explain but they may tell you to look after your finances better.

well csiman its not my main account, its my graduate account from uni hence why I dont use it often was simply a one off, I cant close the account as I owe them money from the over draft,

I wish I was as sensible as you.

went into the branch and they said they would reduce it to £30 as a good will gesture, but she said that if I went to my account holding branch they may be able to clear the whole thing

shouldnt use it at all if you are on your overdraft limit anyway tbh

Here´s a novel idea

Why not actually try to run all the month with a healthy credit.

You will be fine as it's a one off and the money hasn't come out. My experience is they won't refund but will waiver. See how you get on and be polite as they are more likely to waiver if you don't go in moaning about bank charges or blaming others!!
