"Motorists have long believed the cameras are for generating cash, not making roads safe."

being a relatively new motorcyclist, i totally agree.

along the a road i usually go on, not one car stays being me while travelling at the 40mph speed limit.. then they all break hard when they see a camera... more dangerous than not having the cameras in the first place IMO

If people believe they're just about generating cash then why is funding being cut for them?

half of them do not have film in them anyways

The best ones that do work are the average speed ones, they have installed some on the A52 between Grantham & Osbournby roundabout which is a notorious accident blackspot and many people die every year on that bit of road

haha LOL... from my experience 100% of them don't have any films in them...

I've been flashed at least half a dozen times and after every single time I feel awful and terrible about the fine and penalty points coming my way... but 14 days later, nothing... :D

So yea, it's a waste of space, waste of money and as someone said... they cause drivers and riders to brake harshly when they're not even fitted with film. So they are more of a danger tbh.

It's not a matter of other counties following. Oxfordshire have decided to cut the road safety partnership funding instead of other services. Of course they may regret along the lines when the Police/Ambulance/Fire budget gets eaten up by attending more deaths/accidents.

I agree with that. They have them on the M77 and more slowly being introduced - think also on the M8.

The other ones, as someone has already pointed out, can be a danger with the sudden breaking. I was gutted as got a fine recently after holding a clean license for 23yrs :( My fault of course - caught doing 41 in a 30

just a note if you are heading up the A46 in the roadworks.... there are average speed cameras, but of the 2 sets... 1 is no longer on the road as the road has been moved.

Speed as much as you like, or I will dangerously overtake you and cut you up.

If your on about the ones between saxondale and the melton turnoff you will be doing well as it's one lane and about a million cones! Oh and watch out for the police hiding under the bridge next to the new roundabout just after the cotgrave turning. Sneaky gits.:)

hit me at 30 and there's a 70% chance i'll live

hit me at 50 and...well you'll be going so fast that you would have sped past me by the time I get my stupid body in front of your car chasing my ball.

Just so I'm clear about this, we have drivers knowingly exceeding the speed limit. We then have speed cameras designed to ensure that traffic travels within the speed limit. These speeding drivers know where these speed cameras are in the vast majority of circumstances, yet they still fail to plan ahead and brake harshly to within the speed limit that they should have been traveling in the first place. And this is the fault of the machine, as opposed to the drivers who are knowingly breaking the law and failing to adequately plan ahead?

**** the police brah!!! and yeah you can still do some dangerous overtaking.

i used to like the bp garage lights going north - two lanes for about 100 yards. **** you up but if you had big balls you could gain a few tenths of seconds overtaking a couple of brethrens yah blud?
