hellooooo just got my PAC code texted me from O2 and on the text it says "to stop your monthly bills you must use this pac or contact O2 before jan 20th 2010" when i phoned up this morning i told them i wanted to cancel my contract. as i'm not going to use the pac code (was impatient and already signed up to vodafone this morning, they only accept PAC's when you sign up) does it mean i have to phone them again?

Yes, or just transfer it to any payg sim

If you ask for a pac your contract won't end until you use it. If you don't use it inside 30 days it expires and your contract continues.

Either call and tell them you want to cancel or get a free payg sim and pac you number to that.

thanks guys, i just tried ringing them but they've closed :( if i ring them first thing tomorrow (tomorrow is 29 days before the end of my contract) does that mean i have 2 pay for 2 more months? i hope not as i phoned them this morning to tell them i wanted to cancel

You will be required to give 30 days notice so a pac transfer to payg would be the worry free option imo, transfer it and you know then can't charge you from that date.

This may be a problem now. If you sign up with Vodafone, you must tell them the PAC code at first point of contact, otherwise they will not allow a port to take place. This is the only network that operates in this way. Good luck with dealing with their customer services as I can assure you you'll end up being passed from pillar to post and still not get anywhere. Worst company I've had dealings with. 3 are million times better in comparison as at least they make an effort to help you.

Not if you've asked for your pac, that's just an option to cancel, if you like. If you use the pac the contract ends, if you don't it doesn't...
