Packing to go to Glasto for the first time on Wednesday.

Any tips on what to bring - especially food wise, would be appreciated

Baby wipes for freshening and cleaning up.

Any medications and painkillers you may need.

ALCOHOL!!!!!

Tesco is not far down the road
#13

Food is gona be an issue - not sure at all what to bring that will last and doesn't need to be cooked

Plenty of alcohol - I've got one of those trollies you see old women with and Im gona fill it up with as much booze as possible.

No need for painkillers - haven't had a hangover in 4 years :D

I`d invest in a cheap stove, if I were you. Otherwise you`re living off crappy snack food or overpriced food stalls.

Get yourself one of these Vango stoves for about £12, a gas canister for about £4, and a small kettle for about £5.

Then get yourself packets of cous cous and either chorizo or pepparami. Boil your water (should take 3/4 minutes with the vango), chop up the chorizo, bung the diced chrizo in a bowl, add the water, eat. Repeat as necessary. It`s tasty, i`ll fill you up, and give you enough energy to survive the festival.

Plus the cost of the stove and ingredients will still be cheaper than eating at the food stalls. ;)

ditto to the wet wipes
ear plugs can be useful oO
foam mat if u have room too
Large Tesco/Aldi/Boots are in Shepton Mallet 1/2 miles away

...and dont forget although its called Glasto... it aint in Glastonbury, its in Pilton - approx 7 miles
away!! Its been raining for the last few days .. so ground is gonna be wet at mo.
Keep extra water in the car for your engine, if ur going by car, in case you are stuck in traffic ... the queues can be bad, but with them opening the site earlier now, its eased the congestion.

ENJOY ... ya lucky thing!!
;)

My advice is take as little as possible, because it's a hell of a long walk from the car park.

Save your carrying capacity for alcohol.
#19
More trouble getting home than going because everyone leaves the same time.
#20
an umbrella

i see you there , i'm a trader

Camp as high up the hill as you can because of the rain, take as little as possible as someone Will go in your tent for a look round. Food wise..I didn't take much as it was sunny and it would have just gone off in the tent. there's lots of food stalls about. it's a great festival.

Are you local? If so, can you tell me what the hell those new green buildings are about 5 miles from the site? Know the ones? They are about 5 different shades of green in what seems like blocks.

Sorry OP for taking this off topic!
#25
thanks for all the tips guys. Even though the headliners are cack it should be great
#26
The first item that's on my festival list is always imodium, so you don't have to worry about the portaloos to much.
#27
I'm thinking of bringing as much alcohol as I can carry - but I've heard that there is a supermarket about an hour from the campsite where I'll be able to stock up during the festival - is this true? And if so is it easy or a pain in the ass?

For anyone coming in by car from the M5, there is a large Sainsburys & petrol station in Street, & Lidl (also the last McDonalds before the site!!) approx 13 miles from junction 23, enroute to Pilton. Just off the main route in Glasto is a Morrisons & petrol ... after you have left Glastonbury there really are no more big shops, and the only little petrol station is very expensive.

Of course there is a large Tesco/Aldi/Petrol station/Costa Coffee/ in the town of Shepton the other side of the Pilton Site.

Plastic bags are also useful to have.

..for anyone going to the festival and prefers a bit of GLAMPING ..have a look at this!

'Glamping' for those with a bit of spare cash!'

sorry magic... I am not sure what huts you are referring to. I will try and find out. I take it you are not referring to the portaloos? oO:D

Glasto always take a break every few years to give farm chance to recover. Was supposed to be this year, but with Olympics next year it switched.

I'm missing out this year. My first festival last year, and i tried and tried for tickets this year :( So want to go.

Take snack food. The food stalls are one of the best bits about Glastonbury, so much to choose from, good quality and not that badly priced.

Try and take one of these ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ excellent idea - just over £35 at B&Q, but out of stock in Glastonbury B&Q (just checked online)

A water tight container for Rizlas.
and something to sell...so you don't need to worry about the price of food.
Those candles that you stick in the ground cost about £1 for 3 and you can sell them on site for £2-3 each or sky lanterns, buy for a pound and sell for more than double....you'll sell about 30 an hour with ease on thursday evening.

Not irish...just know what is easy to sell at Glastonbury for a good mark up.
