after a drunken night last night, lead to to a huge strain on the wall of our kitchen (university halls) and today trying to clean that stain with a scouring pad has caused the paint to come off (magnolia type colour). anyone know a quick fix for this? preferably not involving buying paint as its about 1 hour trek away.

any home made alternatives for a quick fix?

So paint has come off and you're asking if there's a way to put paint back on the wall, without painting it?

They really do let anyone in uni nowadays......

gotta be paint then. could find the caretaker /janitor and drop him a fiver to do it for you. well maybe a fiver and a few beers.

Was thinking exactly the same, what suggestions were they expecting?

When the inspectors come round get a few friends round and stand in front of it, I'm sure it won't look at all suspicious.

was looking for a homemade solution to white paint (no stupid ideas please) just because removing the paint has caused the plaster to be shown and its quite striking.

going out for abit now, will be back later. Hope this doesn't turn in to a epic thread.

Any cupboards or fridge that could be put in front of it, how big is this stain?
#11
knock a few doors in local house and tell you are doing an assignment and need some free paint but must be magnolia, someone might give enough to do it.

So what did you think you were going to have to do? Take the rest of the paint off the wall so that it all looks the same???

While your out you better get some magnolia paint X)..........only solution i think , unless like greg suggested you have a unit/cupboard to put there .

must have an art studio, go and get one of the students and make then dinner if they can cover it up.?

Even uni halls must have at least a few coats of paint on the walls, find an undamaged section of wall large enough and simply peel a coat from there. Apply it to the affected area and job done! (_;)

I'm beginning to think Levis24 isn't on here anymore because he maybe at uni.

Op, perhaps take it as a life lesson. If you do something stupid then the consequence is you have to spend an hour getting some paint

why dont you just tell the inspector what happened? i mean you opened a baked beans/tuna/cooked meat can and the contents had gone off so it exploded on the wall and you cleaned it trying to do your best?
happened to me once..and covered the wall ceiling and furniture! whats the worse they can do?

Errm take money out of your deposit! Most likely alot more than the cost of a tin of paint and an hours walk.

An hour away? Do you not have any supermarkets, b&m, wilkos closer than a hour away as they all sell paint too. Also you should only need a tester paint pot, but I would suggest getting 2 shades to make sure you have the closest match.

Also a long mirror would do the trick if you have one to cover it.

cornstarch and water! Won't be perfect, so as soon as the inspecter walks in start complaining about badly painted walls. :D

Schoolboy error using the scouring pad otherwise my suggestion of staining the whole wall would of worked a treat.

Don't think he's likely to have that much cornstarch unless he really likes making gravy!?

Walk to the shop.

They do but you cover it up / repair it before an inspection!
#38
Walking to the shop will help with the hangover and allow you time to reflect on why you thought using a scouring pad would be a sensible move.

The answer is simple. Create a distraction. Smash some windows, maybe maim a couple of fellow students and arrange them on the floor in various poses, draw a white line on the floor that looks like someone has recently been murdered, get loads of dead flies and vermin and throw them at the landlord when he comes over for the inspection.

Or stop being so lazy and get the bloody paint!

If you order over £10 of stuff on Toolstation you get free next day delivery which might save you a trip depending on when the inspection is....
