The same great TV that is ripping up the heat in Dixons is now available for £749.95 at Richer Sounds. As a bricks and mortar store you can get John Lewis to match the price and you get a free five year warranty to boot:

Just go into your local John Lewis and they will price match this through their never knowingly undersold policy. As well as the better service and ability to view at John Lewis, the free five year warranty is spot on.

Also worth noting is that John Lewis offer a free delivery service for TV's.

That is correct, but I am telling you John Lewis will give you that price AND a five year warranty if you pay them a visit.

That would be a good deal if they matched it with the warranty.

Great price H+R! There's no John Lewis here in Belfast, anyone know if they will price match and deliver, if I were to call?? Anyone tried this before? Thanks =]

They do. The warranty is completely ignored by John Lewis in price matches. You buy from John Lewis, they match the 12 month warranty price at any bricks and mortar store, they give you 5 year warranty for free. It is simple stuff really, I have bought my last three TV's this way.

Not a chance as they don't have a branch in NI. JL deliveries are on their own vans from the store or local warehouse. Your best bet would be to try to get a deal on the warranty at Richer Sounds, good luck

Haven't checked if Markies have this model but they now have a 5 year guarantee for Televisions over 26", and remember Quidco

John Lewes price matching is very hit or miss...they don't just ring the shop you want them to price match with, they actually send a member of staff in to check the shelf edge price, which can take days...by which time the original deal you saw has gone. I live between 3 JL stores and spent 3 weeks trying to get them to PM different deals, they found excuses not to every time.

Thread moved to Misc as it's a tip/bargaining tool. Thanks for the info.

as I've said on the other threads too, John Lewis warranty covers the TV in repairs up to the price paid, not the original value before price match. by purchasing it cheaper, you're doing yourself out of potential repair costs, should it go wrong in the future.

this is the downside of the limited warranty service they offer for free

no specified in home service
no set time frame for repairs
no loan set while yours is on repair

and in their T&C is states that they may ask YOU to pay for the repair and claim it back from them.
this in my mind is shocking service.

if something is within a warranty period the customer shouldnt ever have to pay for their own repair and claim it back.
