Gary Rhodes recipe 'er indoors uses, makes about eight pancakes.

115g plain flour
pinch of salt
1 egg
25g unsalted butter, melted
vegetable oil
300ml milk

METHOD

Sift the flour and salt together, beat the egg into the milk and whisk into the flour. Rest the batter for 30 minutes if you have time. Add melted butter.

Warm the pan and rub lightly with kitchen paper dipped in oil. Put some batter in the pan and tilt the pan so that the mix covers the base in a thin layer.

Cook for 15-20 seconds until the edges curl and the underside is golden. Flip and cook on the other side. Turn out and keep warm. Repeat until the batter is finished.

The only day of the year when my dad did the cooking was pancake day:-D
As kids we loved it,dad made the best pancakes and we were enthralled with the flipping process,in stitches if it missed and yes,one did stick to the ceiling:giggle:

Love them just drizzled with lemon juice and sugar.

It's just not the same now I'm all growed up and married:-(

It's Dad's pancakes or none at all!!!

Awwwww! I know how you feel, we used to love watching mum flipping pancakes. I used to love pancake day, even though I dont like pancakes! I would push it around on the plate for a while, eat one bite and that was it - but pancake day was still exciting and we looked forward to it for days!

Ugh don't talk to me about pancakes. It's only fun when you make them at home, NOT for 50+ people

edit: Just found this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnCVZozHTG8 :giggle: :w00t:

Well, we've just had them and I'm stuffed  :w00t:

Our 4 year old is now running around the walls after having Ice cream and strawberry sauce followed by a helping of my wife's double choc ice cream :-D

I stuck to the norm, Sugar and lemon juice, but I too helped my wife in having some double choc ice cream
#32

#33

lemon and sugar for me. Sometimes but very rarely i like to have a very thin spreading of raspberry jam on 1 or 2.
#35
Have had 3 pancake making sessions today - one for my pre-schoolers, one for my after schoolers (I'm a childminder) and one for the family - but Mr Biscuits did that one - all the kids flipped their own (with a little help:giggle: ) and the favourite topping was jam!

:w00t: Saw on the local news last night that a local place was selling pancakes for £95.00...

Considering it only takes a few pennies to make, that is a profit (move over Tesco's).
Admit it came with brandy fruit and champers ice-cream or something like that, but still.......
#37
I managed to devour 8 :) , with a mixture of different topping, from the original lemon and sugar, to maple syrup strawberry’s and bananas, to chocolate spread :p man I love pancakes!!!
#38
Mmm....just been rifling through the cupboards, and found this...

It makes a whole load of yummy mini pancakes called poffertjes (pofurchurs). The Dutch have them about 10 to a serving with a knob of unsalted butter melting on top and sprinkled with icing sugar....mmm lekker!
#39
