I think the time has come to admit that I must be living on a different planet.

Just showed a woman (single, who's partner comes to 'visit' every now and again) with 8 kids living in a council house. The two eldest boys sleep downstairs on the sofa;

"What do you think the way out of this is" asks the reporter.

"We'll have to wait till me and my brother get a council house".

Or get a job maybe?

We really are breeding a useless, worthless society - it makes my blood boil!

Boring thread, another thinly disguised attack on the poor working classes.

Too late now I think, by the time she's got her wages they will have already gone on childcare.

I agree there were a family local to me with about 8 children they had two council houses next door to each other to give them more room ( knocked through) when they had their essential work done on their house ( probably modern bathroom and kitchens) they sent the whole family on holiday ( all paid for) while it was done!

LOL that's like what they did on Shameless- except they bought the house next door.

Just thought working class should be used for those who work. Clue's in the word 'working' I guess.

Wait, don't 100% get the OP..

"We'll have to wait till me and my brother get a council house".

this is what i hate about programmes and stories like this they always show worse cases available, i mean that young couples room was gross untidy and a complete mess,

my home is clean and tidy no mess and i look after my home, i get sick of the typical stereotype that gets show all the time

Sorry, it was one of the brothers talking - he was talking about him and his brother (both of working age).

Not all people who don't work are scroungers though, some people choose not to work. :)

Not sure who we are supposed to hate here though? The 9 member non working family, or the illegal landlords?

I'm thinking the BBC haven't made the 9 member family dreamy enough for my liking.
#30
re; change in personal circumstances.... no matter how many times you tell them about a change and no matter what way you tell them the council will lie and say that you have not informed them

tbh i dont hate either, l missed the beginning so i dont know why the family of 9 dont work, but the illegal council subletting should be checked up on just as much as benefit fraud imho

How about we just scrap benefits and reinvest that money into education and policing.

We destroy the culture of living off state handouts and give every child a great education whilst protecting citizens during the turbulent fallout.

Or we can just continue to reinforce the idea that people can sponge off those who do work.

Two extreme ideas, but rather surprisingly one of them will actually happen.

This country is upside down and a few steps backwards when it comes to things like social housing. Always has been and always will be unfortunately.

but that wouldnt work would it? Or maybe it would, if benefits were scrapped, crime would go up by a million % - and in turn the extra money saved could pay for 1 armed policeman at every working mans door creating loads of jobs and keeping the rest of us safe! It would be like Left4Dead but with chavs & **** instead of zombies.

Thats a swear word here? Really? a fish is a swear word.

I hope that copper gets done for fraud and loses his job!

He owned a house in kent, a chateau in bordeaux, a flat and then had the cheeck to somehow own a council flat and rent it out each week for £350 profit.

and he was a crime prevention office - bloody hypocrite!

Now that annoyed me more than those lazy brothers dossing around all day waiting for a free house.
