Parents have had an account for about 15 years now and only got it as they are low income(have paid a huge amount more than they bought, say about 10 times) and its been about 8 years since they last bought an item but they took ages to pay it off at minimum payment.
Anyway its been a nightmare with CS over the years charging them late payment fees for their own errors, i.e mum sending in cheque as soon as the bill arrives but Very taking about 3-4 weeks to cash it then sending late payment charges, or my mum sending it within time but "last minute" i.e 4-5 days before its due to get late charges.
My mum got her final bill last month and sent a cheque and letter of cancellation recorded delivery, it was cashed right away but Very claim it hasnt arrived and her account is active, so my mum got a copy of a cheque from bank(which took about 3 weeks due to the banks inadequacy) and it has a business account stamp on it but very still claim they havent got it and my parents are lying! the cheque hasnt been tampered with and just has Very in name field.
My parents are saying they will go to the police and take them to court but I just want to check any other advice they need.
