hi, i remember a thread on here about carparks like safeways, asda e.t.c and howthey are not enforcable, is this true or total rubbish as it seems to be too good to be true..

anyway my mum, has recieved a parking ticket for morrisons on boxing day when it the shop was closed! but everyone was parking there anyway for the local shopping centre..

supposedly been there two hours, but she was with my nan which is disabled and can barelu walk 2 mins with a 10 min break. now what can i do? ignore it, or has she no foot to stand on .. bloody cowboys really.

Depends if its your local council car park or run by a private company , my morrisons is council run.

Makes me laugh saying bloody cowboys, how would you like it if someone parked on your drive without asking you when you were out to work in the day?
#4
if its them eye in the sky people nd not the council just ignore it....they go away eventually
#5
As above councils have the power to enforce tickets as private cowboys dont and after bothering you for a while and a few threating letters will leave you alone.

dont be a clown, they close the shop yet leave a 300 space car park open? we paid the parking but took time as my nan walks about 0.5mph.. hardly fair fining people on boxing day...

its "parking eye" are these enforceable as it seems the general consensus is to just leave it...

Only council and police are enforceable.

I'd ignore it.

They catch most people out by saying it's only £30 if you pay within 14 days or it's £60. Most people pay straight away.

Ignore, the best they can do is threaten you and they probably will. Some people would rather pay than have the hassle, even though they're operating without any power to enforce the ticket - and that's how they make their money.

Pretty sure private parking companies are illegal in Scotland. Would be good if they were outlawed in England too. I parked in Woolworths car park (after they had folded) and a company monitoring the car park came after me for a £60 fine!!

I wouldn't like it, but would also expect them to laugh if I put a ticket on their motor.

Lol @ 2 mins with a 10 minute break :D Are they home yet? (not laughing at your nan, just a bit of fun ;))

Anyway, I'd like to know how far she walks in those 2 minutes before you just go waving random speeds about. :D

If your Nan has a disabled parking badge take a photocopy of it and send to them explaining ... people are often reasonable if you explain in a polite way.

As Agnes says Ticket, bluecard photocopy (both sides). Post to company, ask PO for proof of posting and it should be sorted. Happens too me on a regular basis, keep forgetting to show the card.
#15
Do not send them anything.
#16
thesaint Correct !!

Do not send them anything, do not converse with them in any way shape or form!!

Just tear the ticket up and bin it !! No matter what threatening letters you get DO NOT enter into any communication with them asd it will just lead to more threats!

Tear it up and forget about it

I'd still go with advice from http://www.pepipoo.com. They discuss Council run parking as well.

Just make it clear exactly who runs the car park (and for whom) and be ready to post scans of all documentation (even envelopes!)

You mention that your Nan is disabled, but you don't say if the vehicle which the ticket was issued for, was displaying the blue badge in the window.
#19
Surely its more fun to enter into some inane banter with them..... obviously with no intention of ever paying them. Just keep the scum busy thinking they have another mug on a hook

sorry , "they have camera evidence", the system in morrisons works by: you pay at the machine, enter your registration and supposedly on the camera on exit it has noticed we have been there two hours..

we do own a blue badge for her which was displayed but this is an unmanned camera on the exit im guessing

well im gonna tell the mama to just leave it, thanks guys :) so helpful
