There's parking at The Light, and also one at the back of the Merrion Centre on Merrion Way. Neither are free but are as close as possible. For Free you're looking at quite a walk. No idea if the metered parking in Park Square becomes free after a certain time. If so that would be ideal.

Other than that you're looking at the Little London residential area. All I'd say is if you park there leave nothing on display and don't be surprised if the car disappears or is left on 4 bricks when you get back.

Metered parking is free after 18.00 in Manchester. Isn't it the same everywhere?

Presumably so. I'm sure it's free on Sunday, just can't recall the other times.

Yep AFAIK it's free in Leeds after a certain time.
On the Leeds Council website it say's this
Pay and display bays - no free parking during the restricted hours of 8.00am to 6.00pm and a paid fee ticket or valid blue badge must be displayed and be clearly seen by the parking attendant
So i think it's free between 6pm and 8am.

You can park on the street directly outside the O2. In my experience you'll be fine as it's bang city centre BUT there's nt many spaces available. Avoid all NCP ones, they're something like £5.40 for 2-4 hours.

I'll be turning up fashionably late, support act don't interest me.

I have just the spot. Park at this student accommodation called Carlton Hill, its right accross the road from the o2. The gates always open and no wardens are about. Will be completely free.

This guy is a clamper who works there?! :D

hahaha I'm really not! I live there myself and never bought a permit. Funny tho!

Yep certainly a good business idea if you're a clamper. Look on forums for "where to park?" and you get yourself a guaranteed £300+. Lol.

Drove round for ages, arguments began, we ended up in Merrion getting stiffed a fiver.

Awesome gig. First time at Leeds academy, good venue.
