Parking Ticket Error

Hey all,
Need some advice please!
I got a parking ticket given to me in error for not displaying a valid pay and display ticket which I actually did display it. Anyway I have lodged an appeal for it and saw on the actual notice given, the attendant noted my registration wrong (wrote ERD instead of ERO). Does this still mean that the notice is valid or does this error constitute it as void?
Cheers!

Tricky to say, if (s)he noted the wrong registration number then well how would they know if it was you parking there.
Even if not, an appeal should have a good chance (apparently quite a high percentage of appeals are granted).

think its void actually
#3
void i would say has he your real reg if not its tough for him
#4
I vote for void too
#5
As you obviously have the ticket, appeal, the wardens round here have a digital camera and take photo's so even if wrote it wrong they would still be able to track you down...better to appeal IMHO
#6
I just had another look and he did manage to note down my Tax Disc Number correctly, just the registration is wrong. Would this make a difference to my defence of him writing down the wrong registration? I gotta put my hands up and say I might not have put the pay and display voucher in the best place but it was still clearly visible.
#7
if they have the tax disc no they can get the reg. no i suppose, so the best will probably be to appeal.
#8
void, as he made a mistake on the 4" letters of your...sorry the car reg he's obviously so blind he wouldn't have been able to take the tax disc number with any guarantee of accuracy either
saying that if u already appealed it's an admission it was you lol

As the others have said, if he is unable to record the details acurately, then the ticket cant be regarded as yours. Think I would just ignore it. I assume you kept the pay and display ticket just in case? The fact you have this and is valid and the rcorded details are wrong will definately (IMHO) mean there is no case to answer.
#10
I would go with the appeal, you can't just ignore it, they'll slap a £250 fine on you if you do.

Point out that the pay and display ticket was on show, (don't be too specific about where) but since the warden could not even read your registration correctly it is no surprise that they could not see it. Supply a copy of the ticket with your letter and I would suspect that this will be the end of it.
#11
if it is the incorrect reg the fine cant go to you as they wont have your name or address. it will go to someone else.
the only thing worth noting is if the attendant took a digital photo of your car which is getting standard practice these days. if thats the case it makes it more complicated. if not bye bye ticket.
#12
Thing is if you have a valid ticket (and still hold it) you can prove the fine was invalid.

If you're going to provide advice like that, it would be more helpful if you could back it up. Buying a tickets means nothing. It's a Pay and Display ticket. OP states they displayed it (albeit not in the best location). I'd go with the previous statement, appealing on the grounds that you did indeed purchase and display as required and believe an error was made in the issue of a fine.

Good luck to the OP.

I got a parking ticket as I'd put my ticket upside down. I went to appeal it and won as I kept the ticket and they just said if I do it again I'll have to pay.
One thing they did add, and also a parking attendant recently, is if you have a number of tickets in the screen you can be done for that as you should only have the valid one in your screen at the time of parking. If they have to look through the tickets through your car's windscreen and it's not clear which one is they valid one you are likely to get a ticket. This is Wiltshire btw. Good luck, it's worth appealing. Be warned though, they always take photographs of the windscreens these days when writing out the ticket, but if you were in the right you'll have this in your favour.

Thanks for the responses guys!
I've made an appeal, submitted photocopies of the notice and valid display voucher aswell. Out of curiousity, I 'attemped' to pay the charge via automated payment line and when I did give my charge number it read back the incorrect reg no, which is a good sign.

i have had two parking tickets and havent had to pay either due to traffic wardens being a bit thick. i have a blue badge i can park on double yellow lines so why go to the trouble of tsking pics of my car and printing a ticket when i am just going to appeal and get off.

Well you learn something new every day. Parking on double yellows legally, wow?

I am not 100% sure, but i think there are times when you can't, or perhaps should not. Yellow line and other parking restrictions are there for safety and when parking ANYWHERE folks should take that into account

As for the OP on this. I am not sure, but you wanna get off on a technicality, you said you didn't even display it in the best place. Normally, and here anyways, it does say on the ticket where to display it, normally front windscreen. I hope you do get off, but hope to you play by the rules in future

all it says is do not block loading bays, drivways and school entrances, so it is more you shouldnt rather than couldnt. i always try not to but sometimes i have to because if not i would have to walk too far and i cant.
#21
No but i have seen double yellows, near blind corners and folks have parked there with a blue badge, and you think, well, i won't say cos swear filter will blitz it anyways.
I know what it can offer folks, and helps folks similar to your situation but some sense is needed, not just, have blue badge will park
#22
some people lol they dont have any sense at all.
#23
i work for the council and asked them about this before - if the registration is incorrect - you will not get a reminder to pay the fine because they will send it to the wrong address - if they have put it down correctly and you just think its a 'D' or an 'O' you will only receive a fine if they put it in the system correctly the problem you have is that they all have either digital cameras to take picture of your tax disc and the registration plate - i would wait until you get a reminder (cos it means they have it down correctly) and then pay the fine
#24
but if you waity for the reminder does the fine not go up by about 50 quid. as if he has to pay he gets a discount for paying sooner

Why, because if you cause an obstruction or hazard, then blue badge or not you are in the wrong and would get the fine. The badge does not allow you to park without consideration.
#26
because the first time the traffic warden said he couldnt read the badge properly this was in a disabled parking bay in a car park. it was because some one had parked too close but i got the ticket because he couldnt read my badge how is that my fault. the second that i didnt set my clock properly. so how is that me parking and causing a hazard. do not come onto a thread attacking me. it had nothing to do with being conciderate, i was obstructing anything.

i have a spare leg brACE for anyone who would like to try

as far as ive seen...its the non disabled that park inconsderably.... we reckon we wil be out and back in a sec... those with blue badges do look properly where they park their cars.....
#35
no the first reminder allows you to pay at the reduced rate because it could be that the original ticket has gone from your car (by whatever reason .. kids removing it - the wind etc) so they always give you a reminder before they hike the fine up

and it annoys me when you see a perfectly able bodied person parking in a disabled bay - just because they are too lazy to walk 50 paces from another bay

Don't get me started on this but you are well out of order. Do you really think we want to display to the world that we can't do something? Believe me 90% of blue badge holders would do anything not to have to use them.
I am saying no more or i am likley to get myself banned!
