You can also get your money when the buyer leaves pos feedback too, so can have your money sooner depending when the buyer leaves feedback for you!
I think this happens a lot now!
[mod]#3
They do it incase the buyer doesn't get their item. Once positive feedback is left then the funds should be released. :)
#4
No it means Paypal have the money safe for you .If the buyer leaves feedback before the 21 days then you get your money straight away so you need to be nice to the buyer,Ebay do this with high risk items such as iphones because of the number of scam and account hijackings there are,
#5
i had this happen to me when i sold my Ipod for aboud £120, think it happens if you're relatively new and just received a large amount.

Once i got feedback from my seller, i got the money released!!
#6
Are you sure this came from payapal ?.

Reasons why payments are held :

PayPal will hold payments in transactions where the vast majority of seller fraud occurs. Here are the most common instances in which a payment may be held:
You have been on eBay less than six months and sell an item above £50
You have a feedback score of less than 98% and sell an item above £50
More than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*
You have an average Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) of 4.5 or less
You have received less than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings
You are listing your item in a higher-risk category which include gift certificates, video games, mobile phones, computers, and consumer electronics

PayPal will not hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following criteria:
You have been an eBay member for more than 6 months, and
Your total Feedback score is greater than 100, and
Fewer than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*

Or
Your average DSR is greater than 4.5, and
Your have received more than 20 DSRs in the last 12 months
Your buyer dissatisfaction percentage is less than 5%

Thanks for advice , its deffo from paypal ...i logged in to check as well.

the buyer is happy cause i sent item even before cq cleared ,as trusted the buyer , its paypal im annoyed at .....as didnt know why they were doing it.
But if it happens alot i guess i just have to deal with it , while paypal make more money out of me by keeping my funds for so long.

Just hope the buyers leave feedback soon.

Its probably just a high risk item ,It doesnt reflect on you but things like iphones are sold by account hijackers who withdraw the money straight away and disappear before anybody finds the account has been hijacked ,This way it gives them time to be sure ,

I know , just seems a long time , i need the money now , not in 21 days , and if i happen to get a bad buyer who says they dont want it now and return it , which they could damage it in mean time then paypal would refund them.

If this happened then how is that fair?

What right as paypal got to keep someones money , if fraud happens then its for the police to deal with or court action , paypal are not the law.

Seems another way of making money...mm the greed is maybe too much for paypal and ebay.

Items ive sold are not high risk items , ive been with paypal for sometime now and never had a bad mark on ebay so seems a bit ott to keep hold of my money

Think of it the other way around, Would you send the item before the buyer paid ?.They are just protecting both parties.

I know what you are saying and i understand why they do it for the reasons you stated , but i dont fit into any of them , ive been on ebay for a while , never had one bad feedback , ive sold simliar items before ,home number confirmed , bank and credit cards etc . so i just couldnt understand why all of a sudden its happening now.

Yes do it on all new sellers and who dont fit the critria above , but to do it on people what do fit it , is why im confused , paypal didnt even explain why they are doing it...would of been nice if they had of done.

Just means now that a buyer can do a charge back and i would be out of pocket , or send an item back and yet again out of pocket...what protection do i get?

Yeah but like i said I doubt it is a reflection on you just precautions in case someone has hijacked your account ,try to get the buyer to leave feedback as soon as possible and you will get your money faster but try not to tell them why,
#17
also what do i do with a buyer who has paid me via paypal and he wants to collect , ive told him before its cash on collection as i cant prove delivery , he still paid with paypal ,ive refunded him and now he said he cant collect as he will now have to wait 7 days for it to show in his bank.

Doesnt make any difference whether the money is in your account or paypals they will treat it exactly the same ,there is no more risk involved as they would just recover the money from you anyway,

Never ever let a buyer collect who has paid by payapal,If he really insists on collecting then you have to refund him through paypal first and then he has to bring cash,
#20
Its just Paypal being typical, they perma banned me because in 2 years of selling I had 2 scammers in the space of a week that made them flag me as high risk! To make matters worse there was £30 sitting in the account that they refuse to give to me so basically stole from me.

Well if thats the case thats out of order....lucky so far never had anyone scam me and so far all happy customers , just dred the day if i ever get someone trying to scam me.

If you were scammed though i cant see why you would get banned , surely matter for police and if you gave paypal the police ref number wouldnt they give your account back?

But not ebay or paypal what kept you safe , you just been lucky with good buyers , ive read lots of horror stories from sellers who feel they get no protection once a buyer tries to scam them.

Also to take a sellers right to leave bad feedback is not really a good move , as you cant even warn others of bad buyers now.

I agree ,All the scams used to be seller scams but now they are buyer scams but you have to stick to the rules to be safe, The number of people that ship things to different addresses and allow people to collect items after being paid through paypal is unbelievable.

Well i just got an email from a buyer again he has told me cause i want take paypal he wants to mutal cancel the auction :x

i feel like this was a scam , as he wanted to collect today and paid via paypal , andfrom all the stuff he was making out in his emails it seemed like a scam , if i cancel the auction like he says can he still leave bad feedback? as i shouldnt see why i should mutal agree to cancel as i dont agree , i feel messed about

If he does leave bad feedback you will be able to get it removed by ebay because he broke ebay rules,

I mean in the way that 2 people used hijacked accounts and paid me money, ironically small amounts of around £20 each and paypal clawed back the funds saying the money was unauthorised then banned me saying they have concerns over the safety because of recent activity on my account!
