I used to be able to make payment from my bank account to avoid charges when paying by paypal gift. I no longer can do this, just from debit card or e-cheque have they changed the rules?

Well it only gives me the choice of using my debit card, so paypal charge me, or an e-cheque which takes a long time to clear. I'm sure i used to be able to make payments straight from my account which was free and went out straight away.

Is it possible that you made some Paypal payments in the past while there was no/not enough money in the bank account to cover them? If yes they are likely withholding the instant bank transfer option from you now due to a lack of trust that you actually have the funds.

I come across this also , my bank /debit card details are linked to paypal and when i recently paid via ppg ( @ £5 i think ) i was charged @ 30p !

In regards to the charges, remember that both the sending and the receiving Paypal account has to be UK registered for the transfer to be free.

i used to do it by my debit card, but then added my bank account to avoid the charges, but that doesnt seem to be a choice now.

Paypal is acting up with my bank account just now and caused me no end of trouble on here AND on ebay. Its "held" the funds I sent to my sellers from the bank account and told them all I have started disputes against them. They have had a problem (which they cant shed any light on) with my bank, so they are sitting with my money but holding it from others. Its driving me daft !!

I wont touch them with a bargepole now unless someone really really wants paid by them.
