Makes my blood boil :x ............
the government hand out cash to druggies and all manor of criminals because their "human rights" have been infringed (they should have no rights in my view) Yet they hound the poor families who have been overpaid tax credits through no fault of their own in many cases.... Its a sad,mad and unfair :|

I would say whatever next but it seems nothing surprises me these days with revelations like this .

Yep, and they are acting hard done by because they are forced into going cold turkey even though they’ve committed a crime bad enough to got to prison for - pathetic. If anything the fact that people have to go cold turkey when sent to prison should be enough to put people off breaking the law but noooooooo we’re now saying, break the law and then you can sue the government because of your ‘human rights’ – unbelievable. People in prison should have no human rights. Full stop.

As if I wasn't in a foul enough mood already :x
This country makes me sick!

How about sending them to Russian prison instead and pay said money to Russian authorities to 'treat prisoners well'? :) I wonder how soon they'll forget about 'human rights' there.

The Home Office said it "reluctantly" decided to settle out of court to "minimise costs to the taxpayer".

This is the problem with the compensation culture nowadays , its cheaper to not admit liability & settle out of court than it is too go all of the way & get a judgement as it will cost a lot more in fees etc . I always thought that justice was fought to the bitter end in order not to set a precedent , this just opens the floodgates to all the other cronies & money grabbing solicitors who feed off the gravy train . The worst thing to ever happen in this country was " The Human Rights Act " , not the principal of it but the practice .

After an year and half battle, HM Customs & Excise (Inland Revenue) have now admitted that they havent paid me ~ £1300 tax-credits which was declared as overpayments. I was threatened by letter, phone and even by home visit to repay what I havent been paid in the first instance.

How could this happen ? ... due to an error, IR asked my employer to pay me additional Tax Credits via my salary... and guess what?... the employer whom I quit half-a-decade ago. It took innumerable phone calls, 1/2 dozen letters and finally my MP to sort this problem. Compensation ?? he he... ;-)

I Am going through a similar thing .. IR say I owe them £3500  from an error they made by over paying me. I had been in contact with them on numerous occaisions to point out i thought i was getting too much to be told they would adjust the amount or that no it was the correct amount ... I had given them the same correct info time and time again this goes back to 2003
they then said the payments were wrong and I had to pay it back... fine I said don't give me any more cash that will help to pay it back ... they still kept putting cash in my bank hit and miss over the next year and finally I got a demand for the cash to be repayed this August I said well how much do I owe now as I have been repaying it?? they told me all I had repayed was £50 !!! What ? So now it is in dispute they have already lost one dispute form so I have to fill it in again.... Pi$$ Up Brewery and Couldn't Organise Sprigs to mind ...... rant over i'll put the soap box away now LOL

Cold Turkey. Was that not a Gr8 record by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band, 1969 about withdrawal from drugs that he (and every one else was on, namely Heroin - I admit nothing!) Interestingly, Lennon sent back his MBE, awarded 1965, in protest at the British Governments involvement in the Vietnam War and because Cold Turkey failed to hit the No1 spot ie slipping down the charts.

Was he the first ever to send his gong back?

They should offer them 'special' drugs while in prison. Namely arsenic, drain cleaner etc. That would reduce overcrowding, stop compensation payments, reduce re-offender rates make the streets safer etc.

I am currently making a Christmas Hamper for all the inmates.
I'm calling it "The £4K hamper smack pack" and filling it with weed killer, Daz & second hand syringe's that I find outside the SPAR up the road.
I may as well profit from this low life scum...
Does anyone know if they are on the net in there????

i am as appauled as everyone else that the goverment has paid out to the prisoners with a drug habit, but the question has to be asked as to how are they getting the drugs into the prisons in the first place. i think that the wardens and people working in the prisons must be supplying for the amount to be getting in and in my eyes that makes them worse than the inmates. When prisoner have to request to go on to drug free wings that has say something. And also why are the prisoners that dont take drugs the only ones being drug tested all the time, because the prison get fined for every positive test. Not all prisoners are scum some are in there for making one mistake and are paying the price.
