Also, i think it say's somewhere that items must be posted within 7 days for paypal transactions on ebay (not sure, but it does ring a bell).

So it is safe then?

once the money is cleared into your paypal account it is safe to post... if you have already transfered to your bank account even if it hasn't cleared your bank yet.. then it is cirtainly safe to post it.

As said before, if it is in your paypal account, it is safe to post. If you don't feel 100% happy, and would be more satisfied posting once the money is in your bank accpunt, that is A OK. Just explain to the buyer that you felt more comfortable that the payment had gone through - thus ensuring it was safe for the transaction to continue on both sides (i.e. postage and feedback)

Do ensure you get proof of postage in the form of Recorded Delivery.
The payer can claim he didn't receive otherwise.

You have been warned !!!

How strange, I make a ebay help post for sellers and buyers and nobody reads it.

One of the requirements of Paypals seller protection is you MUST post the item to the buyer within 7 days of receiving payment.
Transferring the money from your Paypal account to your Bank does not mean the money is 'safe'. If for any reason the buyer needs to claim and for some reason you lose that claim Paypal will put your Paypal account in arrears and expect you to put it back in credit. If you do not they will pass the debt on to a debt collecting company.

Was this transaction eligible for seller protection? I take it this was an ebay transaction?

Once the money is in your Paypal account, that money is yours.
Only e-cheques can 'bounce' but you will not have the option of moving that into your Bank and Paypal will tell you when that payment has cleared and you can send the item. E-cheques are hardly used so I doubt very much if you will even 'see' one.

Just send the item mate, it can take up to 10 days for it to appear in your bank account if your a new PayPal member, depending on which company you bank with.
