A couple of weeks ago we got this email from a seller after purchasing some furniture, now at this point we thought we would never see the money again nor the furniture.

Dear Customer,

Re: Ebay Pine On Line Order

It is with regret to inform you that as of September 4th 2008, all assets
owned by our company and outstanding customer orders have been seized by
the High Court and have taken legal control of goods by

Sherforce
Shergroup House
3 Freeport Office Village
Century Drive
Braintree
Essex
CM77 8YG

Unfortunately this now renders the company insolvent and therefore unable
to fulfill your order, or to continue trading. This has been caused due to
current trading climate and the nature of our business. We have suffered
over the last 6-months to a degree that has resulted in this position.

It is with our deepest regret to inform you of this tragic news, but we feel
obliged to inform you at the earliest convenience.

We were a small family run business that traded successfully for 4 1/2 years
. We are deeply saddened by this outcome and losing the customer base and
reputation we worked so feverishly hard to build. Apart from the company
being forced into an insolvent position, we have also lost our livelihood.

We do hope and anticipate that most if not all orders should be covered by
either the insurance of Paypal or your Credit Card Company, if paid by this
means, as we would not want you to personally suffer as a result of the above
. We accept that our apology may mean very little under the circumstances,
but we are truly sorry that you are receiving this news.

We will of course be taking legal advice in respect to our current position,
and will inform you in due course of any further action to be taken.

As we will no longer be on-line if you do wish to contact us regarding this
matter please write to our registered office at:

Pine On Line
Unit 16/17 Yardley Business Park
Luckyn Lane
Basildon
Essex
SS14 3GL.

Yours Faithfully

Pine On Line.

So I duly put a paypal claim in and immediatelty escalated it to a dispute, and also wrote to the company (sherforce) who has seized their assets. Making a claim as to our money/furniture.

Today I receive this from paypal:
Dear Lee Harlzter,

We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favour.

We were able to recover 66.00 GBP, and this amount has been credited to
you. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted.

If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to
recover the balance from the seller.

Checked paypal balance and indeed the full amount we paid is back where it should be.
Just thought after all the horror stories with paypal that this would show they do actualy come through sometimes

Very happy, TBH we thought we had lost it! Ok its not a great deal but very annoying.

The £66 was what we spent for a display cabinet so all the money we spent we got back.
Good we got the money but rather have had the unit as it was from their own range and to match two £250 units we have already had from them prior to that.

Yes most companys would have just left it, at least these had the decency to email and explain, even giving their address in the email.

Lets hope scrumpypaul has got his money back too, as I have a specific email account just for ebay paypal I probably wouldnt have realised until later unless he had posted http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/239482/ebay-problem-seller-now-insolvent-i/ As soon as I read that I instinctively knew it was the same seller.

You are guaranteed on all eBay purchases under £250 regardless if the seller goes bust or not.

You must be the token one for this month then.

I've tried unsuccessfully a few times and it's been the proverbial 'whose email are you replying to as it sure wasn't mine'

They have every reason in the book not to pay. they have a big book!!!!

Well done

Not anymore.........it changed some months ago. It's now guaranteed regardless of the amount of money in their account. :) (eBay transactions only)

Paypal will refund you themselves and chase the money up owing to them through debt collectors and court.

Really good that you got your dough back, must say though,I lol'd at 'Pine on line' - that's just painful.

Fyi I also got some money back a while ago(18 months or so maybe) via paypal, some trickser in the U.S. on Ebay was selling the Matrix Trilogy HD set - which was highly sought after back then.

I could see dozen upon dozen's of other orders being taken for his various DVD/HD sets - and he had excellent feedback too... so I got one - must of been about $80-90 I guess(£40-50) which WAS a good price.

Few weeks later I can see via his Ebay feedback that no-one is getting their DVD's/HD-DVD's etc and he's obviously done a runner with several thousand dollars, anyway about a week later I filled out a form on paypal's website and a few weeks later I got my money back without any probs!

Just shows you paypal at times can be very helpful indeed:)

Thats not true, i claimed for a faulty xbox 360, and received £2.66 back from paypal, which didn't even come close to covering the return postage, never mind what i paid for the xbox.. :viking:

That must have been before the changes that came into place. It is now minimum of £150 cover regardless.

Can't provide a link as they are not allowed on here for eBay.........but it's easily found.
