Paypal and Royal Mail Query

I sold a dress on ebay, posted it on 2nd November. Checked tracking number online, it says delivered from area's office on 7th November, and showed Electronic Signature thingy.

The buyer has opened a dispute on paypal saying she hasnt received the dress.
I gave her the tracking number to check online and she says its not her signature and is trying to say she received a note through her door saying she wasnt in etc etc to collect, and because its been over a week that it has been returned to sender.
I can assure you, I dont have it and the signature and proof of delivery is online.

Also, if she doesnt have the dress then who does???

I really dont know what to do?
Any info??

Thanks a lot.

Out of interest, does the signature look like her name at all?

Also be wary and check/open before signing for any SD/recorded items arriving at your house - specially as they said it has been "returned"
#2
It really doesnt look like anyones signature to be honest, I cant really make it out :S

Actually, just checked it and where it says Print Name it has a dash so they havent printed their name!

contact the post office and say what the buyer said

If she is fibbing to you, take this as why it's a bad idea to misdescribe the items you're selling. It's a whole lot easier for a punter to file a not recieved dispute than it is to argue with a seller, especially one who treats buyers the way you've been seen to, to get a refund. Cheaper too, since it doesn't require posting it back.

Excuse me, keep your personal comments about me to yourself. Nothing nice to say, dont say anything!

And anyway, im pretty sure that because there is a signature and it shows as being delivered, if she escalated with paypal it would be in my favour. I just want to try and find out where the dress is and whats happened if its not with the buyer ok!

How rude, honestly.

If it is "returned", remember it should still have the same outer packaging and RM SD/Recorded code on when you sent it.

A box i sent did when it came back to me due to non delivery.

Sounds very fishy though.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Would it still get returned to me though after having been signed for?

I wouldn't have thought so no. Although I don't know if the local depots do sign for it before sending it back via the same method.

That could be what's happened, although I doubt it.

enter the tracking number into paypal and they will refuse the claim

you should email the buyer and tell her, when/if it gets returned to you you will refund the cost of the dress minus the postage, its not your fault she wasn't in and couldn't be bothered to go and get it! Or you will resend it if she pays for postage again.

You don't have much luck with ebay do you?

sometimes the postman here just posts it through my door without asking me to sign and just squiggles on the form ... maybe she didnt sign for it the postman did
i had a returned item after it sat in the post office and the buyer didnt collect it.. it came back just as i had sent it.. just added a sticker to say notice left and not collected

Ive entered the tracking number online with paypal.
Hopefully its just been sent back to me because the signature online looks really dodgy actually, its squint and u can hardly see it The tracking is DV405994242GB if anyone is interested.

No, I clearly dont lol. I have made one mistake on ebay and people are treating me like a criminal (see above)
The only reason I asked about this on this forum is because I know some people will help me. Others just like to make people feel bad.

Thank you for help though. Its all much appreciated.

Hopefully it is though, I wouldnt like to think anything else has happened! lol

They could have rearranged redelivery online if this is the case lol:- http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400040&mediaId=37000673

Very lazy :?

I sent an ebay item, got proof of posting and buyer didnt receive it. Almost 6 wks later the item was returned to me with ripped packaging from royal mail. Apparently they have a record delivery was attempted and a card left but addressee didnt pick it up and after 3 weeks it was returned to me. Addressee said no card was left to tell her to collect. I contacted royal mail who said they would not pay costs to resend. Customer opened dispute and paypal went in her favour. I was out of pocket to the tune of £5.30 as I had to refund whole amount even though I had proof of posting!!

Its quite annoying how the buyer is making me feel like its my fault lol. She even brought attention to the fact that it hadnt been collected for a week. What concerns me though is that it was posted on the 2nd and on the interent track and trace it says it was delivered on the 7th and shows a signature. If it had been returned to me after lying in the office for over a week, wouldnt the date on the track and trace be later than the 7th? I dont know. Im confused by this lol

You're joking!
Thats terrible. Royal mail are a joke some times.
The only thing thats in my favour is that the parcel was signed for. Who by, no one knows lol!

If it was sent on the 2nd, it should have been delivered by the 4th.

If it was redelivered, it could well have been on the 7th. So the buyer would have it as per the signage.

Seems dodgy. It would have been back now i'm sure.

the fact that it shows as delivered means paypal will go in your favour so dont worry

to me that doesnt look like a signature at all - i think it has not been delivered - if i was you id contact royal mail and say that the recipient states they havent received it and the proof of delivery doesnt look like a signature either - they will investigate further - it can take up to 3 weeks for a returned item to get back to you

Its all very strange. Ive said to her that if/when the dress is returned to me I will refund her the cost of the dress minus postage or she can pay for it to be re -delivered, like colinsunderland suggested. I think this is fair, if it ever comes back that is! I just hope she doesnt leave negative feedback !

I think I will contact them. You're right, it doesnt even look like a signature.

I jsut think its unfair cos i did everything i was supposed to.

Be careful I had something similar where I sent an item to a buyer, recorded and it was signed for, however!! Despite sending the package to the address paypal said to which was a business address I was not covered even with the signature as there was still no proof it had been received as it was a business address!!!!.

I was disgusted and wrote to the top man at Paypal (still have his email address if you want it) he emailed back rather quickly and refunded my money.

I hate the power Ebay and Paypal have to honest seller/buyers like you and I.

e bay will tell you to take her to court they do not protect the seller **** really
