Paypal Claim

Hi.

I purchased an item from Ebay for almost £200. It was listed and brand new but when I received it, it was clearly well used.
I started a Paypal claim and at first the seller responded but now they seem to have stopped.
What happens when I escalate the claim (they have over 2000 +ve feedback)?

Thanks.

I do not know how the rules are now but i remember doing this a few years back with a pair of used trainers that were supposed to be new.

If you escalate the claim then paypal will contact the seller, my advice is to NOT send the item back until paypal say you can do so as I sent the used trainers back and the seller refused to refund the money and paypal also asked for evidence of the item being used which I did not have so at the very least take pictures of how it has been used and of the auction so a comparison can be made.

I got my money in the end and dont be put off by someones feedback it means nothing these days on ebay.

engage the dispute, then escalate it, paypal will then ask the seller for any information / ask them to refund, they will have a certain time to refund then paypal will process the refund if the seller doesn'y agree, if the seller won't refund, leave them a negative feedback to warn others

Paypal usually finds in favour of the buyer these days anyway.

Does anyone know what happens if the seller clears the funds from their account? That's my main concern.

Paypal will pay you and chase the seller.

Have they changed their policy? I remember getting scammed £300 from a site on the net which I paid for items via paypal and paypal would not refund me my money as the sellers had no funds in their accounts, luckily the majority of the money came out of my actual bank account, just via paypal, so I got refunded about £250.00.
