Hi I'm in the middle of a paypal dispute over a fake copy of windows vista ultimate(it came on a white DVD with hand writing on with handwritten security code that microsoft say is for business and it has been used allready,)
Paypal sent me this last week

"In order to continue with the investigation of your complaint, we must
request documentation to support your claim that the item is not authentic.
Please obtain a document from an unbiased, third-party, such as a dealer,
appraiser, or another individual or organization that is qualified in the
area of the item in question (other than yourself), which clearly
identifies the item as not authentic. If possible, the document should
include a serial number and description of the item, and must be on
letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the
individual, business, or organization so that PayPal may contact them if
necessary.

The documents should be faxed to PayPal at 08707 303 196. Please include a
cover sheet with your fax that includes the email address registered on
your PayPal account and the ID number of your claim xxxxxxxxxxxx, so we
may attach the documents to your claim as quickly as possible.

We must receive your fax within 10 days from the date of this message in
order to proceed with the investigation of your claim. If we do not receive
your fax within 10 days, your claim will be cancelled. We are unable to
grant extensions to this time period. Please note that PayPal is unable to
reimburse you for any costs or fees that may be incurred in obtaining the
requested documents. Any documents you provide may also be supplied to the
seller in your dispute if necessary.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience. We regret any inconvenience
this request may cause.

Sincerely,
Megan

Tell PC world its for one of their PC's and if they won't write you one, you'll bring the PC back as it's only a few days old.

Blackmail is a bliss. :giggle:

On the other hand, someone on here might do it for you.

HI ben

why dont you go to one of your local shops- preferably your little local computer shop - and tell him whats happened i am sure he would give you a letterhead or something
hope you get it sorted out
#3
been to local pc shops they say they dont want to know for legal reasons. even thogh paypal says all they need to know is the disk in my hand is fake which it obviously is, they say stuff like how do we know you havent switched it ? i told paypal this and they said the will decide that, the shops just dont wanna know!
Thanks for ya speedy replies tho

Keep em coming

keep trying local shops m8 im sure one will help you
one last idea but what about trading standards
surely they will deal with fake goods and may also help or C.A.B
#5
have you tried contacting your local trading standards?
#6
Give paypal a call and ask if a photo will be ok as it clearly is a fake if not it's easier to explain to them what you have tried over the phone rather than email
#7
tried trading standards and they said they have never heard of doing this and will get back to me if they could help.

Phone Payal about 3 times asking for help, they said i couldnt take photo, i must have a letter on letter headed paper from a business that sells it or someone who works with it ie computer programmer or it administrator.

Paypal are being really funny about this, i even said i could post the disk, they just insist on a letter.

im really not happy with them as buyer offered me a full refund and they told me not to except as it was counterfeit. What a joke!

If you get no support from dealers i would take this to mean that anyone who has a Degree or perhaps even a A-Level in Computing/IT would be qualified in the area. Perhaps you know someone who has done a degree who would say yes it's a fake. If it's a friend who is no relation i think it should count as unbias.

if buyer has offered a refund take it IMHO

look at it from the sellers or PayPals side - after there are crooks and scammers everywhere.

think of this scenario. BTW not saying this is the case, but who are we to say either way. Seller sends you genuine discs and COA. You then make a copy of it and write another COA / serial number on the copy then claim to paypal that this is what the seller sent you. Your word against the sellers.

How much did you pay BTW.

Save yourself the hassle and take the refund!!

allready declined as paypal told me to,

only £21 inc delivery

dont know people with degrees in it

also just checked the sellers ebay acount now and its got notheing but negative feed back saying fakes and copies etc

carriexcommanderx2007 is the ebayer

Maybe try contacting a local school or college, they will have tutors etc on this subject and could possibly help.....just a thought:)

i had a similar problem with a digital camera which was not working as described (all photo's were blurry). got into this situation with paypal as seller on ebay did not want to know. I ended up getting a neighbour who has 'significant experience' with digital cameras (ie. a biger one than me!) to write a letter explaining the problem. Paypal didnt queiry it. told me to send it back recorded delivery. The seller refused to sign for it and on its way back royal mail lost it. So i got more back from the insurance than it was worth! not a very good hourly rate though!

So to sum up... make yourself a letter or get someone else to!

good luck in sorting it!

I'd at least send the negative feed back to pay pal. At least that shows its happened to other people so your more than likely one of the unlucky people that got ripped off.

I was supprised to see on his feedback that people recieved a copy of a cd and left neutral feedback because it played perfectly.

How long ago did you buy it?
#15
Yes I declare it's a fake it came burned onto a white DVD with a handwritten security code. After trying to install the progrma microsoft say security code is for business and it has been used already been used, there is also no windows identity hologram on disk. Jonathan Dance distance learning course diploma in pc repair and upgrading. This the kind of thing you want?

Paypal are the crooks.

I agree they are as bad as ebay - all same company but there are scammers on both sides of the fence - buyers as well as sellers

paypal are a disgrace that buyers have to jump through hoops after receiving counterfeit goods. After all, its their parent company that let them get sold in the first place.
#39
There are 2 companies i totally gave up on, E-bay and Paypal. Both are companies in my opinion that are only interested in getting money, whenever you have a problem neither company cares. All they care about is money, i cancelled both my account, and would advise all to do the same.
