paypal dispute

Hi,

one of my ebay items which was sent to holland didn't arrive(bloody RM) and the buyer opened a paypal dispute.
The value of the item is around £ 60.- while at most i will get a £ 34.- refund from RM (if i get it at all that is). Am i correct to assume that i will basically have to dish out the difference and refund the whole amount as otherwise paypal will do that on my behalf?
Also, had i sent it registered or by Airsure (which i didn't), would i get refunded by Paypal. If so, will i get refunded the full amount (and if so also when i make a RM claim)?

thanks

paypal will refund the whole amount as you have no proof of postage! you need to contact RM and take further steps! I think airsure gets you a signature at the en address so it would give you evidence that it arrived! and paypal would not pay out, and as for bloody RM they dont deliver in Holland!! and im sure that all the buyer has to do is say they didnt receive it because YOU didnt get proper registered delivery!

paypal will refund your seller the full amount if you cannot prove delivery, your claim is with RM and nothing to do with paypal, remember next time to send registered and insured for the full amount

Good question! I ordered a toy from america off of ebay for my daughters birthday and it never arrived. I paid extra for insurance. When it hadnt arrived, i emailed the seller and she said that i had to wait 2 months to see if it arrives and that i hadnt paid for insurance so there was nothing she would do. As i had paid for insurance and it was listed on my paypal receipt, i opened a dispute with paypal to which so far all i have got is a response from the seller saying she posted it and i have to wait 2 months to see if it still arrives. Seeing as i paid for it nearly 2 months ago already i find this hightly unlikely but dont seem to be getting anywhere with getting a refund

Yeh Paypal will take back every penny and return to buyer.
For future references,on the certificate of postage,it says Royal Mail will consider International Claims.
So your best way round it is send for Airsure or International Signed For. I've never used Airsure before but I know about International Signed For.It costs about £3.50 to cover upto about £34 I think it is,but you cna also pay more to increase value. I'm not sure how much it cos i don't sell high value items, most of what I sell I get £5 or less for most of time.

Was going to say this. Respond back, paypal should ask them for proof of postage at some point

It doesn't matter if the buyer paid for insurance or not - if the seller cannot provide a tracking number then the buyer will always be refunded.

ok, i was pretty sure that paypal would refund that.
what i'm really after is, if i send with signed for or airsure and it doesn't arrive, will paypal pay for the refund under their seller protection programme or not?

yes paypal will refund the seller if you cannot prove delivery, with or without insurance, they pay the buyer not the seller, unless im missing something:?

good question, i assume that you would have to take it up with RM as you would not have a signature!!

so therefore paypal would give a refund

grrr i sell on eBay and there are always chancers who tell you there items dont arrive its so annoying i assume that 1 in 100 will go walkies but when you dont send them recorded it seems a hell of a lot more seem to go missing nearly as if someone wants two of them or one for free its such a pain in the ass. My tip is to avoid any buyers who are new and with less than 10 feedback and NEVER ship outside of Western Europe. seriously not worth the pain in the ass!

Airsure would cover the item for the standard amount (up to-£36) unless you pay for more. If the package is lost then there is really no argument.. you would get the insured loss back once you filled in a lost or damaged form from the P/O there are two types the inland and the international just so you know

it is still nothing to do with paypal, its up to whoever you sent it with and down to you to claim, paypal would refund the seller
