Hi all, using Paypal gift for the first time, to pay someone, thought that it was free hence preferred method by most sellers.
But Paypal is adding:

Note: This transaction includes a fee of £5.30 GBP.
I choose to pay the fee.
Recipient will pay the fee.

What is this about???? Who pays for this seller or buyer??

Sender.

If it is for ebay I don't think they are allowed to state Paypal Gift, I could be wrong. It's usually for the penny pinchers selling stuff on here who want every last penny.

I dont have any balance so to add funds is going to take a week! :?
I thought I knew how to use Paypal... what are my options?

i think if you have it set to take the money direct from your bank account rather than from a card you don't get the charges

Any transaction from an available balance or funded direct from a linked bank account, you can "gift" and dodge fee's.

Any transaction where funding needs to be taken from a credit/debit card, you get the PayPal tax levied.

If its ebay though, pay the fees via normal payment - use www.ppcalc.com to work out fee's - as you cannot open disputes etc. of the gift option is taken :)

But remember that you first have to register for the 'straight from bank account' free service.

This registration process can take a few working days to set up from the time you apply to PayPal for the registration.

So my advice is, register NOW so that you are ready to use it should you suddenly require to do so.
