Had a Neutral as the buyer wasnt happy there was a "hair" on a pair of pyjamas....one hair!! sheeeessh!

anyway....she gave my lass a neutral and now she wont have the money for 21 days,

it should be if you get a Negative the funds are not released until both are happy...but if you get a neutral and positive the funds should immediatly be released!

I was watching a video on paypal on youtube, and say for example i sold a dvd to a buyer and then he paid and i sent it. If he opened up the dvd and realised there wasnt a bookelt inside (bought the later version which didnt have a booklet) he files a complaint!
The buyer gets to keep the dvd and the money is returned to him !!

what a load of crock !!! Paypal isnt as "brilliant" as what some people make out

no buyer has to return the item and then gets a refund, unless thats now changed, also listing should have stated it didnt have a booklet if there are two different issues of it

I don't understand what's happened here - can someone explain?

My understanding is this:

1. Bid/BIN on goods.
2. Buyer pays Seller.
3. Seller waits for funds to clear.
4. Once funds are cleared, goods are shipped.

Has this process changed, or did you naively send out goods before the payment was cleared?

Correct - I wasn't aware. TBH it's been a while since I've sold anything on ebay so thanks for the heads-up

EDIT: So basically now buyers will try to find any reason NOT to leave positive feedback, to delay paying for goods?

Time to boycott ebay methinks..
#6
monies is held buy paypal untill good are recivied it some cases and i wont allow u to withdraw the funds untill fedback is left it saves people paying for goods the seller withdrawing the money and not shipping any goods
#7
I sent someone an echeque (paypal) for an item and before it has cleared I received it (still 5 days to clear).
#8
Basically it's a faux escrow that lets paypal sit on the sellers cash for a few weeks.

now if you were a scammer you could cancel the payment :w00t:

i never send until i can withdraw the payment

oh and i been around ebay long enough not to get told to send item before payment ...

buyers will do anything to get money off an item ...... paypal / ebay has lost its appeal cos of the scamming bar stewards
#10
Yep, paypal can hold funds for 21 days or until you get positive feedback, which ever happens first.
I sold something a few months back, I point blankly refused to send to the guy till we came to an agreement, he left me positive feedback, but it said he was still waiting for goods to arrive (or something to that description) and when the money moved to my account I sent the item, I would have happily cancelled it and not sent it if he was unwilling to cooperate, I am not sending stuff to people on ebay of all places, without having the cash in my pocket!

no, because only the seller knows the money is on hold, as far as the buyer is concerned they have paid for an item and the seller has received payment

Right - so PayPal becomes a holding bay for funds. Gotcha!
#13
A hair on an item, buyer must be mad, saddo, wether a human hair or a pet hair,I don't know what fuss is,if they allergic to pets then it's probably not a good idea to go buying something from eBay from a private seller with the item coming straight out their home.
What's next ? a crease in the item, that can't be helped cos gone in the post!
#14
What the heck they can now hold payment until goods are sent, ebay are mental.

I wouldn't send without it clearing in paypal and although I am going to pay I did warn him about doing it in the future because some people would try and scam (he didn't even sent recorded or proof of postage).

Yes if someone was to buy say for example an xbox 360 game....

1. the buyer pays through paypal once listing is finished.
2. paypal HOLD on to the money and tell seller to "please post item"
3. once buyer has received the goods they leave positive feedback
4. Money is released to the seller and can be withdrawn

Altho.............

if the person doesnt or forgets to leave you feedback you have to wait till 21 days is up and the money in your account for the game is released, this is the same if the buyer leaves you NEUTRAL feedback....incase there is a dispute!

If the buyer leaves negative feedback a dispute is obviously filed and no one has the money till Paypal has all information from both parties!....then they decide who gets the money...

this is where the fault lies, what happens if the person says they never recieved the item or the item is faulty?
the buyer wins on each account, they get their money back and they have the item

Paypal isnt as good as what everyone thinks they are.....personally id rather just deal with people in my own area and actually see the goods and hand over money face to face!

not every item gets put on hold and im really shocked a small amount like this has, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how it goes, so no i dont think your spot on there
[helper]#19
We have sold about 20 items in the past 2 weeks and only one payment has been instant and that was only for £8....
so i would def say that 99% of the transactions are going to be put on hold

Not always - i recently purchased something from eBay that was being sent from HK - it arrived.......slloooooowwwwllllllyyyy...........but never worked. the guy was extremely painful deal with so i raised a dispute in PP. I said i would be happy to provide proof it didnt work but would not return the item as it would be expensive for me to do because he was from HK. i won the case - money returned - item in the bin

my post was referring to another, not a faulty item that didnt work, ut an item that was sent and not received as described, there will always be different scenarios

I don't see how its paypals fault, the rules are pretty clear. Its not their fault your buyer is an idiot and left a neutral for something as stupid as this!

Paypal have many many faults, but don't see how its their fault in this case.
They didn't force your buyer to leave a neutral.

Paypal is fine usually as long as you follow the rules to the letter and know them inside out. Unfortunately until you have used them alot people get caught out.
They should have an easy to read FAQ for people to follow

In a claim the buyer should return the item, if paypal find in the buyers favour and they haven't returned it then you just an appeal and its usually overturned.

Almost every complaint I've read about paypal has been because people haven't followed the rules, but as i've already said they do have plenty of faults.
Every big company has complaints, paypal has millions of customers worldwide they will always get complaints!

suppose, cheers colin :)
