lol paypal is so bad, I never use paypal on listings I put items as collection only and put my phonenumber on the listings so that people can call me and collect it outside of ebay

the worst part is that you are FORCED to list paypal as an option to pay (and supply a working paypal address)

WTF??? This is getting ridiculous! They hold our money for 21 days all the time earning interest on it, nice little scam errm i mean earner sod it yes scam!
#3
ok it sounds harsh - for the seller - but note the conditions when they will hold payments until sale has gone thru - it might have the effect to stop scammers - hopefully

i very rarely buy but i am a seller - a good one!

PayPal will not hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following criteria:

You have been an eBay member for more than 6-months, and

Your total Feedback score is greater than 100, and

Fewer than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*
Or

Your average DSR is greater than 4.5, and

Your have received more than 20 DSRs in the last 12 months
Doesnt seem too bad

definatly a scam to earn money off the interest, no other agenda in mind whatsoever! *********!

but what if the buyer is a scammer- i.e receives item and does a chargeback! so seller has no payment and no item

as it wasnt already difficult to sell with the china junk on ebay

i have understood it as only witholding payment in certain catagories such as ipods mobiles etc - the most likely scam items

also looking at :thumbsup:your own personal stats from ebay i cant see your money being witheld

Over the last few days I've been looking at Digital cameras and have reported numerous scammers who then got removed. This measure should stop them, although I agree it seems a bit harsh. It shouldn't effect good ebayers with good feedback, though it might put new eBayers off a bit.
I'm on the fence at the moment. I'll see how it goes.

Just remember that recorded signed for only covers you up to the value of £35. So if the goods are worth more than than then suggest Special Delivery as that covers you upto £500. I have been selling on ebay for a while now and always send recorded or if over £35 use Special Delivery but the listing fees, final selling fees and payapal fees certainly mount up.

I try selling stuff for free on free ads first of all:thumbsup:

"Your average DSR is greater than 4.5, and"

Given that a DSR score of 4 is considered 'Good', this is crazy. :w00t:

how do you find out your ratings ebayname vickster2005

It's the stars in your feedback. To get an exact figure, hover your mouse over each line of stars.

ETA: Looks like you haven't received enough feedback yet to get the DSR stars showing. You have to get 10 lots of DSR feedback for them to show.

when are paypal gunna get sorted out. does my nut the amount of interest they make on this money.

looks like alot of people may suffer, in the long run not getting payments for people who dont have details feed back.

seen people with lower ratings than me for feeedback ect but sound slike the buyers /sellers you deal with sometimes cant be bothered to do the detailed parts with the stars

It does sort the good from the bad...I have over 1000+ feedback and haven't had hardly any problems as a seller

If it sorted the good from the bad, then it should be based on a DSR of 2.9 or below, not 4.5.
#24
Yes but they arent basing the paypal rule just on DSR ratings

The "bad" is based on a DSR of under 2 for sellers with 100+ feedback and who have been on eBay for 6 months.

It's only the newbies who are being pushed with 4.5.

That makes no difference...............

this what happened 2me- i sold a mobile for £139 used special delivery. all tracked and signed for but buyer 2weeks did a chargeback for no reason.

paypal closed the case in my favour as they could see it was signed for, but.........

my acc is still -£139 as they "cannot recover available funds from the buyer"

luckily i always make sure the funds clear into my bank before sending the goods.

i now cannot do this anymore as a result of the new policy

I thought a chargeback was a result of a dispute so they wouldnt refund the buyer until they had decided in the buyers favour. What you describe is that the buyer instantly got his money back before a paypal decision. That can't be right!

YES chargeback thru his credit card co.

so in theory you could buy thousands of pounds of goods and charge them all back then close your credit card account.

I HATE PAYPAL!
