pc gaming can be expensive in the long run if he wants to play the latest games as you'll need to update the graphics card every once in a while at around £100 a go. Budget for about £500-£700 for a top notch gaming PC.

Wouldnt he prefer a PS3 (£275) as this will last at least 5 years and much more fun / sociable than sitting in front of a monitor?

that's quite a good deal, £275, where??

A 8500 will struggle with some games.

A PC with an 8800GT 512mb or 4850 graphics card will make a good gaming machine.

Bear in mind that console games are usually more expensive than PC games, when they're brand new it can often be a £15 difference!

deals around this price pop up all the time on here but you have to be quick. I'd wait for the 80gb version which arrives in 2 weeks.

when are you ever going to need 80gb

Er, quite easily actually.

mine has 8gb of photos

some games take 5gb just to install

music collection is 12gb

I have 50 movies on mine which take up 30gb!

So my 60gb is nearly full already

Why do you think people put 250gb HDDs in theirs? Its a media server as well as a games console. have you only got 10gb in your PC as surely you dont need more lol

yer well this is a teenager im guessing, and if it is he is not going to use up 80gb if he is anything like me

if i was him i would rather have a computer than a ps3 because you can do so much more with a computer
