Pc guilty of girl's crash death

A police officer has been found guilty of causing the death of a 16-year-old schoolgirl by dangerous driving.

Pc John Dougal, 41, had accelerated to 94mph (151km/h) in a 30mph zone before he hit Hayley Adamson in Newcastle in May, the city's crown court heard.

A police driving expert told the court that the patrol officer's speed was unjustified, but Dougal had claimed he had been driving safely.

The car's siren and lights had not been activated at the time, the jury heard.

Following the conviction, Judge David Hodson said a prison sentence was inevitable.

Shocking!

Very excessive speed, I guess he was late for his cup of tea.

He thinks he was driving safely? Clearly he wasn't.

Cost a young girls life.
#4
how many years did he get?

Thing is with stories like this, you immediately tend to side with the copper, or at least I do.

Then you realise as you read that there was simply to excuse whatsoever for what happened.
#6
I feel very sorry for the young girls family. they must be coping with a terrible amount of grief.

Pretty tragic all round. Apparently 'not wanting to alert the driver' to the police's presence took precedence over warning the public about a car travelling at 94 mph - although surely that would be pretty noticeable in itself?

The telling bit was in a previous story on the case, he swore he was driving safely, yet when asked if he'd do the same again he said no. That shows he knows it wasn't safe.

It hasn't been revealed yet.

The worst thing is, that the ANPR data was out of date, and the car he set out to chase was driving LEGALLY!

How was this murder? Did he have the intention to kill? Was it pre-meditated?
Ditto for the G20 death you mention, I can't see anything in the video that shows the police meant to kill him.

Demenezes was here illegally so if he'd have followed the letter of his law himself he wouldn't have got shot.............no excuse for what happened but still a fact.

G20 murder.........untrue........it wasn't murder and all the facts haven't been discovered yet, just a small snippet of video.

Girl run over........wasn't murder it was death by dangerous driving and he hasn't got away with it.

And can you point me to the other regular Police murders please because i seem to be missing them.

ok the police are liars, cheats, murderers and manslaughterers then if we wanna be pedantic

you dont see them because they are covered up.....just like they attempted to with demezes and the g20 guy

thank god for mobiles and cameras i say......about time the police were exposed for what they are

a simple click of google will show you many cases where the police have been involved in the "accidental" deaths of hundreds of people......shame nobody was around to witness or take video

Who can stand injudgement ,what a terrible thing to have happened

report the DS then, take it higher, write to the chief constable, contact your local MP. You may say "why should I?" but if it was a company you were dealing with you would move heaven and earth to get it resolved.....no difference really.

Just seen the in car video of the driving and i have to say it was disgraceful,,94mph in residential area, This man deserves 5 years at least,The worst thing was when a police spokesman said "police officers have to make split second decisions and this time he got it wrong".Talk about trivialising,I think the police do a great job but peoples lives have to come first,

how about they do what they are paid for.....protecting the public and in vestigating reported crimes

seems they cant manage to do either.......
#35
You can't say that police don't get treated different to the public. Look at the 156mph policeman who got a total discharge from dangerous driving, because he was "testing the vehicle". A ordinary member of public wouldn't have got away with it.

If that was true then there would be total anarchy on the streets.
