Hey,

What do I need to connect my PC and my Xbox 360, and how do I do it? Done a little research but it's not so clear! Could someone explain, or point me in the direction of a clear website?

I basically want to use it to watch things on my TV from my computer...

Was this Ethernet Cable Provided with the Xbox 360 core?
#3
have you got an ethernet socket in your pc
#4
wired or wireless?
#5
Well...I'm also planning to set up the Wireless Adaptor today too...
I'd think I have a Ethernet Socket in my PC too.

My set up is is PC connected wireless to live box router, 360 hard wired to live box router

are you using a router of any kind? not necessary, just curious

If it's divx (avi) files you want to play the recent update to the 360 gave it divx support. So it can now play divx/xvid files off a memory stick.

I have:

LG HD Ready LCD TV that I need to check the connection of as I'm not sure it's got the best picture setup available.

Dell Computer running Vista Premium (Windows Media 11 and Media Center)

Netgear Wireless Router, using AOL for my ISP

Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adaptor
sounds like everything is in place, via the hardware its just your software setup you need to change

do you have windows media player 11, this is one program that can be used to share files between 360 and pc

Open up Media Player 11 (or install it if you do not have it) click on the Library Tab and Select Media Sharing. Tick the check box and Allow the XBOX 360 console.

Then on the 360 open up the media blade and select movies for example and press X to change location from your 360 HD to your laptop or select the computer name from the list.

then have your music files saved in your music folder in my documents, videos in my videos folder

Yeah, I've done that. The Xbox 360 Console doesn't appear.
At this exact moment, the Xbox 360 is currently wired to the router which is wired to the computer. Haven't installed the wireless features yet.
However, the PC has recognised the Xbox 360 before and used to open Media Center. But doesn't do this anymore. Maybe I've switched something off somewhere...

could be a firewall, but i'm stuck for suggestions now

u have to diconnect the media center and enter another code to reconnect it. most people had to do this after getting the dash update. i dont use media center as its got a few glitches and doesnt work very well with my xbox. media player 11 works perfect.

lol. Well thanks for your help so far. Think I need to plug this new Wireless doofer in and go from there.
Haven't needed to use the wireless part of the router before, but families new Dell Laptop arrives Monday so need to get wireless running for then :)
(Some rep left for your help so far ;-) )

Yes - that figures! It kept asking me for a code on Media Center, which I didn't have. Media Center used to try and start up though everytime I used the Xbox which it doesn't now.
Whats this code, and how do I get them all talking to each other again?!

A break down of what I said before...

firstly try re-installing media player 11

Open WMP11 click library, Media Sharing. Make sure the share my media to button is ticked.

If there is a 360 icon in the box below click it then click allow

from memory...it tells u on ur xbox to visit a web address to get a new code...hope that helps.

I need to have a look over my PC/360 setup but I've had trouble getting the two to connect since the last dashboard update.

It's the same link. It might be the right one, just the first lot of text states:

Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP offers great new ways to store and enjoy all your music, video, pictures, and recorded TV. Play it, view it, and sync it to a portable device for enjoying on the go or even share with devices around your home—all from one place.

the windows vista wmp11 searches have done have all come up with that link so i believe its the right one
